Mario's had a lot of friends. So many in fact that you'd be pushed to remember every single one of them, and even then there's probably one or two you've just never even heard of. That's why we've teamed up with the excellent rabbidluigi so that we can collate the very finest of these Mario relics to put in front of you today.
Check out the video above, and make sure to let us know how many you remember in the comments below.

I'm really appreciating the collabs in the newer videos these days. Rabbidluigi is a great guest too, great to listen to
Lots of fun here.... oh memories!
There are many characters from the Mario RPG Series that were never seen again. My personal favorite was "Booster." Who was a sub villain half way through the game who tried to marry Princess Toadstool. He also ate an entire evil wedding cake. lol
Saw both your video and rabbidluigi’s video on youtube. Normally I don’t watch rabbidluigi but this was a special occasion. I really like the nintendolife crossovers.
The top few were pretty good, but I think you could've gone a lot farther with some of these entries. I think most people remember Mallow pretty well, and Wart, absolutely. While Nintendo hasn't really used him since, Wart was referenced in Paper Mario Color Splash just a couple years ago. Nabbit was in Mario Golf World Tour, and there were a lot of requests to see him in Mario Kart.
Some more obscure choices might've been Wanda from Mario vs. Wario or the robotic fly boss from Mario Paint's Fly Swatter game (whose name is apparently Watinga.)
Side note, what ever happened to Toadsworth? It seems like he largely came and went with the GameCube/DS era. Nintendo should really bring him back in the future.
I was pretty sure I'd know every character but you got me with the last one. I know all kinds of things about BS Zelda but didn't know about BS Super Mario USA.
Mini Bowser is not just forgotton, he was killer off by Nintendo
#BringBackMiniBowser
I would love to see Wart in Super Smash Bros., as well as Waluigi, whom speaking of it would be great to see Waluigi in a Mario platformer as well as Smash Bros. There are so many Characters in the Mario universe as they introduce new characters every new game you could literally write a book on this topic and I would buy it., LoL.
I like rabbidluigi's videos. He's one of my favorite youtubers.
Wart is one I know about.
Mallow I've only recently discovered, as I'm on my first playthrough of SM RPG.
@Biff_ARMStrong They say Booster inspired the Wario character! Haven't verified if Booster has indeed appeared before Wario but my memory serves me....
Not many people played Super Mario Land?!?
Not to sound curmudgeonly, but this video so far in two mins. was entertaining in the perspective that we have two millennials trying to explain the weirdness and possible non-canon that SMB2 was, and complain that no one stuck around to try to beat Super Mario Land. What a different perspective from the early 90's.......I love it.
@Magrane Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land came out in 1993. Mario RPG came out in 1996
@Biff_ARMStrong Thank you! I knew something didn't sound right from that memory. Maybe it was the surprise that they should have used Wario instead?
Wart was also in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening for the Game Boy. But he had his Japanese name.
Mario in the video thumbnail is thinking what Alex would look like if a cool version of him existed. One that does not use clickbait videos or tries to flog off bootleg merchandise.
El Piantissmo... bring him back
You guys really dug to bring out some obscure characters at the end of this list. Keep up the great work!
Yes, the Satellaview did have real-time voice-overs. This is why some games, like the Zelda Ancient Stone Tablets game, have no music in the rom.
Apparently these characters are so forgotten, Nintendo Life forgot to include gameplay video of them. Seriously, were you unable to find any video of Wart, Tatanga, Nabbit, etc.?
@JJtheTexan The timespan available for these videos means it's not feasible to play to the end of an entire game just for a minute's worth of footage, which is where final bosses like Tatanga and Wart naturally are. Also we did include footage of Nabbit.
Toadsworth disappeared
So....no wanda?
