There are certain games that we'd love to see on the 3DS purely because playing them on a handheld system is enticing enough. Then there are games that will surely benefit from the extra punch that the 3D effect will provide – and Muramasa: The Demon Blade could be of them.
When Siliconera spoke to Tomio Kanazawa, group manager at Marvelous Entertainment, talking points included the idea of bringing the side-scrolling samurai action game over to the 3DS:
That’s a pretty good idea! That is one of the many things we think our fans want, and we want to provide to them... We at Marvelous Entertainment want to continue to meet and exceed the expectations from our fans as we continue to bring them new experiences.
As fans of the game, we certainly think that would be an excellent title to add the 3DS line-up, and you only have to read our Muramasa: The Demon Blade review to see why. This is by no means an official announcement, but it does show the company's commitment to meet fans' expectations.
Aside from the up-in-the-air possibilities, the publisher did confirm that it is currently working on "several" 3DS titles, two of which are the zoo life game Animal Resort and a new Harvest Moon title.

I was planning on buying muramasa this week. It would be nice to see a hand drawn game in 3D.
Wow, so this is possibly happening? Awesome! Now bring us Little King's Story and Rune Factory in 3D and I'll be extremely happy!
@WolfRamHeart This is simply a confirmation of Marvelous's desire to bring it to 3DS and their commitment to the fans, not of their actually bringing it to 3DS yet.
When I asked Yuji Naka if he might bring the original Sonic the Hedgehog game to the 3DS I believe he slightly moved his left shoulder, all but confirming it's coming to 3DS.
@zkaplan: Thanks, I got it now. It would be really cool to see Muramasa in 3D though. I think the 3DS is going to be a huge hit so most likey Marvelous is going to want to get as many of their games on this system as possible.
@Corbie: But Yuji Naka no longer works on Sonic, he left Sonic Team a couple of years ago. Sega already confirmed Sonic would make an appearance anyway.
Wow that went right over some people's head.
@Oregano Yes but it's been whispered in dark corners that once when asked if he'd return to Sonic Team, he made a slightly audible grunt. No conclusion could be drawn from this than his immediate plans to return.
So basically they can neither confirm nor deny that they do or do not have any plans for Nintendo 3DS development. Nor can they confirm or deny that Muramasa: The Demon Blade does or does not look totally amazing in 3D. Where have I heard that before...
pretty cool but how would it benefit from 3D?
I heard from a top secret developer that it's considering bringing one of its best selling franchises to 3DS. I can't tell you which one, but here's a clue: it features a cool mascot with a unique skill. Can't wait!
I knew it J. I heard that same rumor. You just can't beat a good nameless mascot game with skills in it, especially when it's from that company that wasn't mentioned. You just can't.
I think you could possibly beat it if the source of another rumour is right. I heard a much anticipated franchise is set to reappear on 3DS, headed up by a world renowned developer. If my source is right - and he/she/it usually is - we can expect to see this game be unveiled within the next 14 years.
Too bad I don't have the type of sources you have. Even my completely made up sources don't know sh*t.
Hmm now I don't know if I'd rather have the HD version on PS3 or the 3D, portable version on 3DS.
Oooooohhhh yes, please! Kinda funny 'cause I was thinking about picking up Muramasa.
@Objection_Blaster Where is your fanboyism!?! Just kiding If they could make it more stylized in HD and if it would sell more copies, I'd advise Marvelous to go for it. I want more games like these to come out of Japan.
Already have it on Wii, so I'll save my money for another 3DS game.
Hmm...I've always wanted to try this game out. It looks just as cool as Okami to me. I should check it out. I love games where cooking is involved.
Your eyes will probably start bleeding from the sheer beauty.
Has anyone other than me realised that this is going to be a Wii port, rather than an N64 or GC port? or PS2 port?
I'm not really sure how this translate over to a portable system as it's made for the home console.
Muramasa in 3d would be epic
I'd also like to mention that they might bring Muramasa and the ever-so-awesome Odin Sphere to PSN and XBLA

yay harvest moon! i usually only get the wii versions but ill be picking up one for the 3ds(if its relesed) :1
Muramasa is one of the greatest games of all time A port to 3DS would be amazing! I hope that gem never sees the sight of non-Nintendo consoles, although I guess it deserves all the sales it can get...
even though im excited for this considering i dont have the wii version, i really am sick of seeing all these ports and sequels. I want something new and interesting
I still have to play the Wii version, I haven't had time to open it and play it.
Gimme gimme gimme!
Every time I see this game I feel compelled to tell people that it's a great rental game but not worth buying. The game's beautiful, but it's a solid 7. Nothing at all like Odin Sphere. Very repetitive, the skill tree sucks, the weapons aren't interesting, etc.
