How to get Manaphy and Phione in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Get to Jubilife City

In order to download the Manaphy, you’ll need to enable Mystery Gift. You can do this by heading to Jubilife City, which is one of the first areas you’ll visit on your adventure. Then, visit the Jubilife TV building and head to the second floor. There you’ll see a TV producer, speak to him and that’ll unlock the Mystery Gift function.

Then, all you need to do is to select Mystery Gift and download the gift from the internet. You’ll be given a Manaphy egg. Manaphy is unique to legendary and mythical Pokémon as one of only two that hatch from eggs like this. You can then hatch the egg by walking with it in your party. This is sped up by having a Pokémon with Flame Body, which halves the number of steps required to hatch the Pokémon.

The Phione Factor

Now it’s time to get Phione. Once you’ve hatched your Manaphy egg, head to the Pokémon day-care and leave the Pokémon there along with a Ditto. This is another unique feature to Manaphy, it can breed and hatch eggs. Come back later and you’ll be handed an egg containing Phione.

It’s worth noting that Ditto is locked until you finish the game, although you are able to trade with a friend, if they’ve made it later into the game, in order to get Phione.

And that’s it! Two more mythical Pokémon in the bag.
