Minecraft Live 2022 is almost here, and we're totally ready to have our worlds literally changed again. Our Minecraft worlds, that is. Every time there's a new update you basically have to delete your world to get all the new stuff. Sob.

Ahead of the broadcast on Saturday, October 15th, there's a mob vote that you can take part in, and a bunch of speculation to speculate. So let's get into it already!

What to expect from Minecraft Live 2022

A vote between three new mobs for the game is taking place on October 14th. This mob vote is how we got the Glow Squid after the 2020 Minecraft Live stream, and the Allay from the 2021 Minecraft Live Stream.

Let's take a look at the three options to help you decide who to vote for:

Rascal

The Rascal is a cute little mine-dwelling mob that engages you in a game of hide-and-seek — as if the mines weren't creepy enough! If you manage to find it three times in a row (and don't worry, it'll give you hints), then you'll receive a special prize: An Enchanted Pickaxe! Extremely helpful for people who are mining down for the first time!

Sniffer

The Sniffer, much like the Allay, is all about helping you find things. He's an ancient mob that looks like a lovely little turtle, and you can find him in the game by discovering sniffer eggs in underwater ruins. Their special ability is being able to "sniff out" long-lost plant types, discovering new seeds that you can then plant and grow to restore them to life.

Tuff Golem

Last year's mob vote included a twist on the Golem, and this year's vote does as well. The Tuff Golem is very cute and very small, and they can hold items for you. That doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but they can move around your base, find an item, pick it up, and then return to their original spot. The implications for this feature in redstone builds is quite exciting! But even better... if you make a Tuff Golem using a wool block, he wears a little cape. Awww!

Minecraft Dungeons

From the trailer, it looks like Minecraft Dungeons — Mojang's spin-off RPG — will be making an appearance, too. New enemies? New areas? New items? Probably all of the above, if we had to guess!

The Next Update

2020's Minecraft Live introduced us to the Caves & Cliffs update, and 2021's Minecraft Live showed us the Deep Dark biome, Caves & Cliffs Part II, and announced the release date for The Wild update, which was added to the game in June 2022.

So, this year, we'll get to see what's next. Many fans have theorised about what the next update, 1.20, could include — a part two for The Wild, perhaps, or an overhaul of The End, like Mojang did with the Nether.

Sneak peeks

The trailer said "sneak peeks". What are we sneakily peeking? Probably the next update, new features, new biomes, and new blocks!

Birch forest improvements

Mojang teased the above image during the 1.19 update announcement, but later rolled back this addition. However, it looks like it was in the works, so maybe 1.20 is the time for an all-new, much more interesting birch forest revamp!

Archaeology makes a return?

Archaeology was initially planned for the 1.17 update, but never materialised. It's likely that the pandemic plus other unannounced factors led to it being indefinitely shelved... but perhaps it'll make a return in 2023 instead?

New amiibo?

Unlikely, since Minecraft's most well-known characters, Steve and Alex, already got amiibo... but would you say no to a creeper amiibo? Or a Minecraft pig? We certainly wouldn't.

It's not much of a hint, but if the trailer is to be believed, we might be able to link minecarts. NO, IT DOESN'T SOUND EXCITING. BUT IT IS.

What would you like the next Minecraft update to be?

Unfortunately, there's not much more to go on. The announcement trailer didn't include any other hints that we could see, but instead featured the Deep Dark, frogs, and the Warden from the last update.
