The Wave Beam in Metroid Dread is a powerful piece of kit that enables Samus to fire energy waves through solid objects and terrain.

She can also now destroy all those purple Wave Beam covers that have been blocking your progress in the latter part of the game.

Metroid Dread - Where is the Wave Beam?

In order to nab the Wave Beam you'll have to face off with the purple E.M.M.I. in the northeastern tip of Ferenia. We've pinpointed the location of the Central Unit you'll need to destroy in the map below.

Be warned, this is a well-hidden area so use your scanner liberally to see destructible blocks as you get here.

As with all other E.M.M.I. fights, this is about melting the armour and then shooting the red light on its head. However, making space in this fight is a little more complex as the game charges you with running an obstacle course of sorts, taking out bomb blocks, shooting wide beam blocks to clear space and dashing through pressure-sensitive areas.

You'll build a little loop for yourself doing this, it's pure trial-and-error the first few times, and once you've cleared and can move freely it won't take long to make the space required to melt the E.M.M.I.'s armour and blow its head off.

Nicely done!
