New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (Switch)
$39.99 (-33%)
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is an impressive package, offering madcap multiplayer and glimpses of the outrageous invention that was to come in Super Mario Odyssey. It's a top-drawer 2D entry and arguably the best of the 'New' branch whether you play on Wii U or Switch, although ageing visuals and the irritation of being kicked back to the world map after every death stand out as things that could have been finessed in this Deluxe version. Still, with New Super Luigi U included, this is a very fine 2D Mario (and Luigi) package, even if Wonder makes everything that came before look a little staid and static.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order (Switch)
$41.99 (-30%)
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order isn’t a groundbreaking, narrative-heavy reinterpretation of the comic characters you know and love, but then again neither were the first two games. In that regard, it’s a very faithful sequel that mines the vast roster of characters from the comics while including plenty of nods to the current state of the more modern Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it doesn’t do anything particularly new or outstanding, it embraces the brainless fun of its brawler combat with gusto, and it’s at its absolute best when played with a team of player-controlled supers.
You can also pick up the MUA3 Expansion Pass in this sale for $13.99 or bundled with the game for $55.98.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Switch)
$29.99 (-50%)
The Switch isn’t short of games that have already taken a bow, or several, on other hardware, but Skyrim might be the one that most deserves another look from both hardy Elder Scrolls adventurers and absolute beginners alike. Despite its age showing, with countless little cracks in its already fractured façade, it still delivers a palpable sense of space that few games before or since have managed. May its dancing northern lights never dim.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition (Switch eShop)
$34.99 (-50%)
If you're a fan of Skyrim, we reckon this is an upgrade (available as paid DLC if you already own the 'vanilla' version) that's worth grabbing. If you've never played the game before — and we 100% refuse to believe there's anyone who hasn't — this really is the best, most feature-rich, content-packed version of an RPG that, no matter how much we make fun of it, always completely sucks us right back into its world every single time we boot it up.
Now, when is the 'Anniversary of the Release of the Anniversary Edition' coming out?
Those who already own the base game and want to grab the Anniversary Edition expansion can get it in the same sale for $15.99.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated (Switch)
$11.99 (-60%)
Considering the long-reaching cultural impact that the SpongeBob cartoon has had on modern pop culture, it’s nice to see that the franchise got at least one solid video game that properly represents the unique draw of SpongeBob and his friends. Though Battle for Bikini Bottom doesn’t bring anything new to the table as a 3D platformer, its strong level design, lighthearted tone, and gorgeous remastered visuals make this one an easy recommendation. Rampant technical issues hold the game back from true greatness, which is a real shame given the quality in nearly every other area. As a result, this certainly isn’t the game to unseat Super Mario Odyssey, but those that love a good collect-a-thon 3D platformer will find plenty to love here.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore (Switch)
$41.99 (-30%)
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore is one of the most colourful, approachable, and downright endearing RPGs you’ll find on the Switch. Its new story chapter, music tracks, and character assists improve on the original to an extent, but not enough to greatly affect its overall quality. Thankfully, what was there was already fantastic, meaning those who missed out on it the first time around really have no reason not to get stuck in now. On balance, this RPG is significantly more Shin Megami Tensei than Fire Emblem (roughly 85% SMT, 15% FE — and somehow ends up feeling like something completely separate from either of the two), so Fire Emblem fans take note. But it's a great time nonetheless.
Diablo III: Eternal Collection (Switch)
$19.74 (-67%)
Diablo III: Eternal Collection is a lovely port of a classic RPG loot-a-thon that keeps its feet firmly in the past. The execution is wonderful, but its gameplay is not something that will appeal to everyone due to the high level of repetition. Its visuals are clear and functional if not especially interesting, but performance is top notch to make up for it. It's one of those games which is best played with friends, too, and while you can play online, couch co-op offers a rich experience as you battle demons and collect loot together - three local players can drop-in and join you on your quest. If you’re looking for a loot-driven grind-a-thon with more explosions of viscera than you can comfortably discuss with your mother, this is the game for you.
Samba de Amigo: Party Central (Switch)
$15.99 (-60%)
Samba de Amigo: Party Central brings back the cult classic monkey and all the fun that comes with him, but it does too much in the wrong places. By bombarding the player with no fewer than three different progress bars to level up in, any sense of growth, progress or leveling feels arbitrary and unnecessary. They feel like an attempt to hide the fact that Samba de Amigo is an arcade game about a dancing monkey that you can dress up in silly little outfits; it doesn't need to be an RPG, so why make it one? After all, Samba de Amigo is inherently fun—be it with maracas, a Wii remote, Joy-Con, or just buttons.
No More Heroes III (Switch)
$24.99 (-50%)
No More Heroes III has the faults of both its mainline predecessors – it’s a little more tedious than No More Heroes 2, and a little less meaningful than No More Heroes. It makes up for this, however, by being another inarguably impressive, balls-to-the-wall carnage-fest, a blood-spattered love letter to excess, and a Suda51 fan’s wet dream splashed across the Switch. The story it tells is cool. The game it plays is cool. Neither of these crucial aspects reach the heights of the series' Nintendo Wii origins, but nobody who truly gets No More Heroes could reasonably be disappointed with this third incarnation. The joke’s beginning to wear thin, but it’s all in the telling. And Suda51 can still spin a very fine yarn.
Persona Collection (Switch eShop)
$49.49 (-45%)
A bundle including Persona 5 Royal, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 3 Portable. You can find our thoughts on each below.
Persona 5 Royal is the very definition of ‘required reading' for JRPG fans. A deep and moving story, stylish presentation, amazing soundtrack, and decision-driven gameplay all combine to make for an unforgettable and exceptional experience that proves itself to be every bit deserving of the hype and praise it’s already received. This easily stands as one of the very best RPGs of the last decade and you’d be doing yourself a disservice to miss out.
Over ten years later, Persona 4 Golden remains a thoroughly enjoyable and engrossing RPG that, for the most part, has stood the test of time. Although its visuals might be a bit dated, the gameplay and story presented here do more than enough to justify the purchase, while all the tweaks and additions that came with this ‘Golden’ edition round out most of the rougher edges from the initial PS2 release. If you're looking to give the Persona series a shot, P5R is a good place to start, but P4G is an excellent entry in the series and one that we would recommend you pick up when you can.
P3P remains an enjoyable JRPG, but we would say this is easily the most skippable of the mainline Persona games on Switch. An engrossing story and well-balanced gameplay loop easily justify a purchase, though things like Tartarus’ repetitive floors, the visual novel presentation, and the lack of FES content hold this one back from the heights its successors reached. We’d give P3P a recommendation, though only after having played both P4G and P5R, and only if you still find yourself needing more Persona in your life.
Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes (Switch)
$14.99 (-50%)
Billed as a side dish, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes has been prepared with enough love and affection to become a filling meal on its own, packed with the spice and spirit you’d expect from Travis Touchdown. It’s a fun, indie-inflected blast of hack-and-slash which doesn’t change the world mechanically (and don’t go in expecting No More Heroes 3), but its sincerity and energy are charming. It’s an adult game – a gamer’s game – foul-mouthed and dripping with style. If you’re sitting on the fence, we’d recommend diving in, if only to support its infectious, celebratory spirit; Suda51 seems to have a real affection for Nintendo hardware and this makes you feel lucky to have him working on Switch.
Super Bomberman R 2 (Switch)
$34.99 (-30%)
Super Bomberman R 2 is a triumphant and feature-rich return for the explosive icon. The new Castle mode brings some interesting twists to the classic formula (though the level editor feels like it could use a little more work) while all the chaotic arcade gameplay that’s carried this series for 40 years proves to be just as compelling as it’s always been. Pair that addictive gameplay with an extensive multiplayer suite and lots of unlockables, and you’ve got something that’s easy to recommend to anyone looking for the next great multiplayer release to break out on game night. It’s a little less easy to recommend if you intend on playing entirely solo—the single-player offering is a bit thin here—but the endless replayability of the online component makes it a great pick otherwise.
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (Switch)
$4.99 (-83%)
Some will argue Dragon’s Dogma was hardly a perfect game when it was first released, and the passage of time will have done little to pacify those naysayers. The world of Gransys may lack the epic, intricate lore of Lordran, Drangleic and Lothric, but it more than makes up for this shortcoming in sheer scope; exploring the landscape is addictive in itself, and there’s always some new nook or cranny to investigate, even when you’re many, many hours in. Add in some of the most enjoyable real-time combat ever seen in an RPG and it becomes easier to appreciate just why this game has become so beloved over the past few years, even though Capcom has done little to spruce it up. Dragon’s Dogma nonetheless remains a fantastically gripping role-playing experience that manages to straddle the divide between exhilarating real-time action and stat-based adventuring.
Just Dance 2024 Edition (Switch eShop)
$42.49 (-50%)
If you like Just Dance and simply must have the additional 40 songs that come with this latest package, Just Dance 2024 Edition is a perfectly serviceable, inoffensive experience. As we said last year, there’s nothing here that’s going to convert non-believers, and the lack of meaningful improvements with this one makes it even less of a recommendation, but the quality-of-life changes from last year remain intact, at least.
The 'Ultimate Edition' in this sale includes a 13-month subscription to Just Dance+.
Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise (Switch)
$24.99 (-50%)
Veterans of the first game won’t be expecting a technical tour-de-force, but Deadly Premonition 2 still manages to underwhelm in pure performance terms. However (and this is a big however), it's a game with real character and it's very tough to dislike, even as you stutter your way around Le Carré on your skateboard. A horrific, adult experience that's also undeniably silly, if you've ever been intrigued by the original, we'd recommend giving this a go. It’s janky and derivative in many ways, yes, but it’s also irresistibly wonderful and strange, and there's no other video game quite like it.
STAR WARS Heritage Pack (2023) (Switch eShop)
$39.99 (-50%)
An almighty bundle of titles from a galaxy far, far away. This 2023 edition of the STAR WARS Heritage Pack is a prime pick up for anyone who has ever been interested in playing any of the Jedi Knight or Knights of the Old Republic games, The Force Unleashed, Republic Commando or Episode I Racer. While some of these are certainly showing their age today, this cost-effective bundle is a welcome addition to the growing number of Star Wars games on Switch.
That's every game in Nintendo's 'Mega Extreme Fun' sale. Head over to the eShop to make the most of these delicious discounts.

Burnout Paradise Remastered for six bucks. That's all I need to know.
I’ll probably snag Fire Emblem: Engage on Wednesday. The next sale for this game and others alike probably won’t see another sale until the holidays.
And with Nintendo announcing that a new console is on the horizon, it makes me wonder when will they kick off the Nintendo Selects??? 🤔
It never fails. The sale list is all games I already have or don't care about.
I'll have to look into this sale a little deeper. I assume these sales are essentially what used to be the "E3" sales. Either way, this is the time to purchase some stuff you might want.
Mega extreme fun is too much for me. Mild thrills at best then I need to sit down. Tempered delight is the sweet spot.
Welp time to weed whack the wishlist.
These first party sales should be more consistent with deeper discounts now.
Animal Crossing and Advance Wars would be nice, but only a 30% discount feels a bit stingy but, this is Nintendo we're talking about.
I've seen most of these titles for far less in Physical format.
I will be picking up Advance Wars though. That game seems to never be on sale on for some reason.
I don’t think the US store has Unicorn Overlord on sale. Just the EU one unfortunately.
EDIT: Nvm. The Monarch Edition is indeed sale for $52.49, which includes the music and artbook.
doom eternal at $17 bucks is insane. I bought it on pc from bethesda but now dont have internet so I cant redownload it. heard the gyros great too, def tempted.
