It would be an overhead action game designed as if it were running on the NES in the same way Megaman 9 did. It would be similar to the first Zelda game but wouldn't use the graphics from the first Zelda game. If it were an actual NES game, the graphics would be very good but not impossible that it couldn't be done on the NES except there would be no flickering of course. There would be modern ideas present perhaps but still nothing that couldn't be done on the NES.
Well, I would take it, but it's not something I'd be very crazy for.
It's funny cause I actually thought about it a few days ago, but I would really really really love one made for WiiWare in the same mold as aLttP. I know that PH and ST are top down and sorta like aLttP but I would love to see a true-sequel on WiiWare with the same soundtrack. Maybe even just a "Master Quest" type expanson. I'd be all over it. And I mean ALL OVER it, that they would need chemical reactions to break me away.
Very much so! I am desperate for Nintendo to start making bite size WiiWare games with some of their best franchises, Zelda would be a great place to start. Yes, I know they don't want to tread on the toes of 3rd parties, but they also need to give the fans some love.
I'd prefer DSiWare to be honest. The only big name Nintendo title one DSiWare right now is Mario vs DK, and I really want a new 2D Zelda game, though I'd prefer something in the style of Link to the past than one of the NES games. So, Zelda on DSiWare: make it happen Nintendo!
No thanks. Not a huge fan of Zelda games in general. I have a few and I really do not want anymore. For those that love and breathe the franchise then sure why not. If they are going to buy it or willing/wanting to buy, then Nintendo should give it to them.
I think, given the ease of development these days/interested consumers, it doesn't make sense not to classically reboot as many old series as possible. It doesn't exactly take a mountain of resources to develop a run and gun or a platformer these days....I'd imagine overhead 2d is in a similar boat. I say go for it--keep em affordable and you've got a customer.

I hear its amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on hari-kiri rock!!! I NEED SCISSORS!!! 61!!!
Yes. The real question is "Will we see a 2D top-down Zelda game in the next decade?"

We need a true sequel to Zelda II, but there'd be nothing wrong with a Zelda 1-styled game either.
Agreed. I also think designing a game in this style would be more reasonable for a WW-sized game. Calling it Zelda 3 would just be the icing on the cake.
I would love to play it as well. I would want modern overhead graphics with the old school Zelda gameplay, I got to say Nintendo really drops the ball with some of the great stuff they are doing. I know that sounds weird. But they are literally kicking themselves in the groin with the way they go about running their business. The comment above about bite size nintendo games is a no brainer. Also DSiware for the most part has been a crap fest for real games. Imagine how good it would be if they put a few of their A level teams on that platform and set them free.
Also what about selling VC games on DSiware? Also they are the only one of the big 3 that NEVER I mean NEVER does sales on their items. Look at Steam or XBOX Live with the game of the week, the PSN store always has deals. Not Nintendo, nope..We are still paying 10-15 dollars for games from the 1990's lol. I love Nintendo but there is a reason a lot of hardcore game players feel disappointed with them and its not all about the graphics and poor multiplayer options.
