I'm not at home at the moment so I have to come back to you on the Menu version. I do have the SD card icon in the bottom. So am I correct that it's at least 4?

I see the icon of a moon or sun or whatever in the Weather Channel and scrolling news text in the news channel. Of course no mods have been done to my Wii.

Ok, so you haven't actually tried launching those channels then. Try that and you'll see that it'll kick you back to the Wii Menu because your standby connection is disabled. Which is what makes no sense, because clearly there is some data exchange happening that provides the up to date info to the channels' icons.

Haven't try to start them up. Not really using those channels. I'll try it tonight.

@Kawaiipikachu: I got your meaning all right; I just didn't understand why you would do that. Now that I know about this weather/news channel problem, I guess it makes sense. I don't use those channels, so it's easier to do things the way I previously described, and it seems that some others have agreed, so I'm still glad I suggested it.

My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P

Your right Vendetta, they say I can't visit it because of the standby connection is off. Since I don't really use the news and weather channel I just keep it this way.

Yep they won't launch and tell you it's because Standby is turned off. Whatever, I can live without it; being able to turn the machine on and off quicker is worth it.

You brought this thread back from its resting place.

I have a first gen Wii and I always have my Wii on standby and WiiConnect24 always on.

The only time I had to repair my Wii is when I dropped it by accident. Other then that I've had zero issues.

Indeed. Switch the damn thing off. Who needs the spam-light? Another Mii competition, anybody? Yippee!
(My Wii's gone back to Nintendo twice so far, and although the diagnosis is inconclusive I always keep spam-light/connect24 off when I'm not playing).
