Ah yeah XP I think I mentioned that, pretty irritating.
and yeah I recently discovered them, and they are pretty awesome, though bosses for me usually do so much damage I have to keep defending or healing to do any successful trinities. Maybe ill play around a little bit more and try to close the level cap between me and the boss (oh boy that'll be fun)

Once you know what you're doing, trinity acts are really easy to pull off. Make sure you pay attention to the turn cards at the bottom right-hand side of the screen. When you select attacks it will show which order the attacks will go in. The key is aligning the characters' special acts in a row. Then you will pull off the trinity act. I make sure to equip hp boosts as well. Most of my characters have something equipped that either boosts HP, recovers HP, or makes items' use better. I usually delegate each of my members to one task (i.e. L'arc is the attacker, Rastan the healer, Leslie the long distance attacker/mage) and make sure to spread my party out well. I like to keep L'arc close to the enemy, Leslie far from the enemy and out of its sight, and Rastan just out of harm's way. I also make sure to have the rogress option before starting boss fights so I can use that to my advantage. It's especially good if there are multiple bosses.

I don't know if you turned character voices off or what, but it helps during the game to keep them on since the characters will warn you of an impending attack that will cause more than normal damage. That way you can defend and wipe out any crystals before the enemy strikes.

When it comes to leveling up, I usually find a good area to level up and then pretty much go on auto mode. I usually watch a movie or talk to my friends or whatever while I just click A repeatedly and look at the screen repeatedly to make sure no one dies. It still takes forever to level up, but at least you're not totally bored then.

Right, just noticed thanks!
I usually include L'arc, Niko and Rastan. Sometimes Ryfia if I need a good amount of healing done...and I rarely use cecielle unless I want her arm force or something. (currently have no one else)

Yeah I realized that, as soon as I hear that I defend, and usually I use Niko to kill the crystals.

Haha totally, I've gotten quick at running into an enemy and finishing battles as fast as possible.

So it turns out that the boss which I was going nuts over, cannot be beaten...apparently when you die..well you're supposed too, and the past few times I reset the game because I knew I couldn't beat him LOL (won't include spoilers for those of you who still haven't played, etc.) No wonder It was so tough...I even used AOE heals AND I was 2 levels higher than the boss....but now that that's over I can continue.

Finally played through Fragile Dreams. It wasn't much fun to play (Not worth $40) but I still enjoyed it. I especially like the ongoing Tetris mini game that is Seto's inventory.

...in my pants.

I wouldn't exactly call Fragile an RPG. It's more of a survival-adventure game.

In the interest of keeping this thread alive, I'll list the Wii RPGs (or close enough to be RPGish) that I have, and a quick rating on how much I personally enjoyed each:

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes in Time - 6/10 ok, but not really my kind of RPG
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Dungeon - 10/10 charming, challenging and chocobos. The three c's to an awesome game
Opoona - 6/10 cute style, but very forgettable game, with some weak translation that rurally kills he atmosphere of a an RPG
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn - 9/10 so very challenging, but so enjoyable. Great visual style and story, too
Dragon Quest Swords - 6/10 not really an RPG, but the Dragon Quest theme sees it though to be a decent on-rails/ RPG hybrid
Baroque - 7/10 not for everyone, but a very dark RPG with serious niche appeal
Spectrobes - 8/10 I like this. It's what Pokemon could really do to copy some ideas from
Rune Factory Frontier - 9/10 love this game. That said, I hardly bother with the dungeon hack stuff. The RPG elements of this don't do much for me.
Monster Hunter Tri - 6/10 also not an RPG, but RPG fans should like this anyway. Online works well, but I'm not a fan of boss fights, let alone a game structured entirely around them.
Eldar Saga - 9/10 very misunderstood game, I feel. I love its aesthetic and complexity
Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the new world - 6/10 competent enough RPG, but forgettable

Now post your RPG collections!

The Wii's RPG offerings haven't interested me much so far. In fact, I don't own any "true"/"traditional"/"classic" RPGs for the console. A lot of them are dungeon crawlers.

Almost RPGs:

  • Baroque 8/10 Very interesting concept and style. A great niche RPG/dungeon crawler.
  • Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon 7/10 A cute fushigi no dungeon game but it hasn't really held my attention.
  • Shinen the Wanderer Not gotten far enough in it yet. Another fushigi no dungeon game.

Not-really RPGs:

  • Little King's Story 9/10 A fun, unique strategy game with RPG elements.
  • Monster Hunter Tri 10/10 An excellent action game with RPG elements.
  • Muramasa: The Demon Blade 6/10 After playing Odin Sphere I wasn't impressed with this action platformer.

Er, wow. That's it. The Wii really disappoints me as an RPG fan. Here's looking forward to The Last Story and Xenoblade.

Honestly, I don't understand why developers are reluctant to make more RPGs for the Wii. You don't need stunning PS3-level graphics to pull off a great turn-based RPG. And I think there is a market for them.

My RPGs or somewhat RPGs:

Little King Story: Fantastic game but not a traditional RPG.
Muramasa: I haven't played it yet, and I didn't even realize it was more than a platformer
No More Heroes: Again, not really an RPG but there are some elements
Opoona: I got the second dome but I don't really like the battle system
Rune Factory Frontier: One of the best Harvest Moon games
Tales of Symphonia 2: Haven't played this one either yet. I loved the first one.

VC/WiiWare RPGs:

Super Mario RPG
Paper Mario

PiribroH

My RPGs are:

  • Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World 6/10 Ok game but nowhere near the original ToS and I hate Emil
  • Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn 8/10 A great game with some good characters
  • Super Paper Mario (not really an RPG) 8/10 Good game but I haven't played it once I beated it
  • Monster Hunter Tri (again, not really an RPG) -/10 Can't really give it a score because I haven't played it enough
Wii has too few RPGs! It's good that I own a DS.
SKTTR

My Wii RPGs.

  • 10/10 Super Paper Mario
  • 10/10 Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
  • 10/10 Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (WiiWare)
  • 09/10 Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon
  • 09/10 Ókami
  • 08/10 Opoona
  • 08/10 Muramasa: The Demon Blade
  • 08/10 Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time
  • 07/10 Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors
  • 07/10 Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

I really have to get my hands on Rune Factory Frontier, Eldar Saga and Chocobo's Dungeon.

I wouldn't call No More Heroes 1 & 2, Pikmin 1 & 2, Monster Hunter Tri and Little King's Story RPGs. If I would, then I should add The Godfather, Scarface, Bully, Driver, Resident Evil: Darkside & Umbrella Chronicles, Lost in Blue Shipwrecked, Samurai Warriors Katana, House of the Dead Overkill, Zelda and The Sims too. They all have RPG elements in that your character gets stronger by progress.

But Fragile Dreams is an RPG as you level up and gain more power, life and defense by fighting enemies.

That is not what makes an RPG and RPG! That's such a superficial interpretation of what the genre is about.

By that definition Samurai Warriors 3 is an RPG.

Honestly, I don't understand why developers are reluctant to make more RPGs for the Wii.

That's simple. An RPG is a very expensive game to make, requiring a large development team, large marketing budget and long development time frame.

And on the Wii, that doesn't pay off unless you are Nintendo. 99% of Wii owners are not interested in RPGs.

Besides that, it's much easier to create a compelling, cinematic world with a HD console. I'm not just talking in terms of visuals, but other ways the grunt of the console can be used - in creating more open worlds, story arcs, incorporating online features etc etc. Dragon Age: Origins would not be possible on the Wii if the only hit the game took was visuals.

Why the crap has no one mentioned Phantom Brave in this topic? I am so sad.

^It's on my top 10 Wishlist. The music in that game is fantastic.

Comparing that game and Dragon Age: Origins is like comparing Starcraft 2 with Desktop Tower Defence

Guess which one I spent more hours with, though?

Perhaps I missed something important with DA: Origins but doesn't it just follow the same Bioware formula they've been using for ten years now. KOTOR and Jade Empire worked fine on a system with less raw power than the Wii. I think you have it slightly wrong anyway in the case of WRPGs, the developers were PC focused, jumped onto the Xbox because it was similar to the PC, followed up on the 360 but because of the ballooning dev costs they've moved onto the PS3 as well now.

In the case of the JRPG if you want to keep costs low you're better off going with the PSP or DS, or now the 3DS and if you're planning to go big(which most devs can't afford to do) you may as well go as big as possible and go with PS3 or 360(especially if Sony/MS are willing to subsidise development which they've shown they are). I don't think it's really go anything to do with the Wii's audience because the Nintendo audience in general is (J)RPG friendly.

That's my take on it anyway.
