I'm sorry, but 3rd party Nintendo Wii games DO sell... but people seem to ignore that fact for the reason of how the first-party games outshine them... but guess what? That's been the case since the NES... sure, the Wii has more 3rd party games than ever before and a lot of them aren't as good as they could be, but in that large amount, there's a ton of good ones.

As far as ones that I own, here's my small list that I hope grows soon.

Nights -- Feels so much like the Sega Saturn version. Feels like a classic Sega game. Plays well in my opinion.

Goldeneye - Technically a 3rd party game. Amazing. I'm sure you guys know all about it.

Harvest Moon Tree of Tranquility -- First Harvest Moon game I've played in awhile that I've enjoyed. I wish it had a little bit more to do, due to the days being longer, but still.

Red Steel (Haven't played 2nd one yet) -- Got it day one. Was a lot of fun. I wish it had more sword fights, but I'm sure that's where the 2nd one came into play. Real straight forward, linear game.

The Conduit -- The best shooter on the Wii, next to Goldeneye. I feel like it has the best controls... because for some reason, it feels really well. Like a really good light gun game. The story is so-so, but it adds to that classic light gun style game feel. I rented it but I enjoyed every minute. Can't wait for the second one.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.

Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Red Steel 2 ( just got and currently playing ) Great game with dead-on sword/gun controls and plenty of combat. Really enjoying this one and find it to be a very well thought out game considering some of the Wii's limitation. They pretty much nailed it.

HOD2-Overkill. This one is awesome. Too bad you can never play it with a younger family member or someone easily offended by the F bomb Some levels are boring but the Hospital level is worth the price of the game alone. Looking forward to the sequel of this one !

RE4 - Great story, pretty good graphically and the controls are incredible. Love it!

Cursed Mountain - This on is a love hate relationship. I love the idea and the story line. The game has it's moments that get your adrenaline pumping but THE DAMN CONTROL issues are inexcusable! I am about halfway through the game and got stuck because the game is requiring certain gestures to be made and it's just not recognizing the movements when I make them. Highly frustrating!!! Not sure who the blame lies with here, the developer or Nintendo but it just make the game unplayable after a while.

MH Tri - Super game but you really need to devote time to developing your character. This is only for the most hardcore gamer that doesn't have bills and chores around the house

That's all the 3rd party titles I own. I've played a few others that I've taken out from the library but nothing that stood out.

Titles I plan on getting
COD Black Ops is a definite. No More Heroes 2 and maybe 1 if I can find the multipak.

Titles I would like to get when I've got money to burn
The rail shooters in the RE series. House of The Dead 1&2. Goldeneye ( thought this was a 1st party but someone mentioned it's technically not - I don't know)

I'll assume you mean retail only.

Elebits - 10/10 - $40 (I think)
Sonic and the Secret Rings - 8/10 - $50
Red Steel - 9/10 - $30 (I know I'm in a very small minority here, but I think this game is still great. I think the controls are perfect for what the game asks of you, I think many of the game's levels are still really beautiful, and mostly I think it's just plain fun. Fun enough to have beaten 4 times already.)
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition - $30 - still working on this actually. Likely 10/10 worthy.
Dewy's Adventure - 6/10 - $50 (the controls are just poorly done, IMO, no matter which option you choose. Brings down the experience a great deal.)
DDR Hottest Party - 8/10 - $70 w/ dance mat (Not the best selection of music, but still very good. Might drop the score when I buy another edition.)
Zack & Wiki - 9/10 - $40
Geometry Wars Galaxies - 10/10 - $40
Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 - 9/10 - Gift (my first WW2 themed shooter, if that tells you anything. Great online, great controls. This score would likely drop if I played more games of this kind.)
Kororinpa Marble Mania - 10/10 - $40
No More Heroes - 10/10 - $40
Okami - 6/10 - $40 (Not what everyone told me it was, after 30 hours of playtime. Tentative score. Will start over one day.)
Death Jr. - 8/10 - $30
Mercury Meltdown Revolution - 8/10 - Gift
BlastWorks - 8/10 - $35
de Blob - 8/10 - $45
Sonic Unleashed - 8/10 - Gift
Marble Saga Kororinpa - 10/10 - $30
Klonoa - 10/10 - $30
The Conduit - 9/10 - $50 preordered (I really enjoyed the outside experience of investigating the references in the game, and though it was a hassle to get the online working the way it should, once you do that, it's so much fun)
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom 8/10 - $50 (I'm not an experienced fighter player, and I hoped this would be "beginner-y" enough for me to be good at it, but it's still very complicated for me. Fun experience regardless.)
Trauma Center: Second Opinion - 7/10 - $12 (story is so boring, and I can honestly see this being more fun on the DS with the touch screen)
Groovin' Blocks - 10/10 - $20 (maybe a bit expensive compared to the WiiWare version, but it's the WiiWare version plus more, so it's 10/10 worthy)
Fragile dreams - 10/10 - $50 preordered (simply one of the best experiences out there, for the rightly minded)
Red steel 2 w/ Motion Plus - 8/10 - effectively $42.50 (Liked it less than the original, overall)
SSX Blur - 9/10 - $10 (one of the best uses of motion controls on the system, IMO)
Let's TAP - 10/10 - $20
No More Heroes 2 - working on it. Not looking to be as good as the first one.
Boom Blox - 9/10 - $50 (or whatever the price was at launch) (wish it had a few more of the more interesting level types)

Rented: Dead Space Extraction, Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, House of the Dead: 2 & 3 Returns, Bully: Scholarship Edition.

In my world, 10/10 does not mean perfection. I can't think of anything that is perfect.
Price is important to the value of a game, to me, so I included it.

So what would it take for a game to get a 5/10 or lower from you? Do you really think all of those games are above average games?

Back in 2005 as the DS was coming, and after my disappointment with several third party GameCube games (most of them were film adaptations), I swore to only get first party Nintendo games from then on. I was 10, you can't blame me. Obviously once I got more internet-savvy and learned about reading reviews and such I broke this.

Anyway, here's the third party Wii games I have:

The Beatles Rock Band - 8/10 - Love them Beatles, but could've used more songs and could've made you feel like you're part of the band like other Rock Band games, and not just watching them.

Rock Band 3 - 9/10 - Great setlist and good ol' plastic instrument fun. Havn't tried the keyboard yet, as I plan to sell all my Rock Band stuff and get it again on PS3.

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures - 7.5/10 - Good clean fun that puts a smile on your face. Camera can get annoying and the main story is too quick and easy, but getting 100% is a little too boring to bother anyway.

LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga - 8/10 - Same opinion as LEGO Indy, except this one has a longer lasting story, so I bumped it up a tad.

Little King's Story - 10/10 - Instant cult classic. I love this game. Just need to find some time to finish it!

Monster Hunter Tri – N/A – Having a hard time getting into this game. Everyone who loves says it has a huge learning curve, and it's one that I can't really be bothered getting over right now. Lack of targeting system is also extremely annoying. I don’t wanna be unfair, so I’m leaving the score blank for now.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars - 8/10 - A pretty standard fighting game, and probably the best the Wii has. Could use a lot more polish though, it doesn't even let you go back to the main menu if you start a game or cancel your character selection. Feels like a quick arcade port of a game that wasn't even in arcades. A bit disappointing coming from a big company like Capcom.

Zack and Wiki: The Quest for Barbaros' Treasure - 7/10 - Everyone loves this, but I can't really see why. Puzzles are smart but I can’t get into it.

Directed at me? Nothing I have I would consider average. I bought them because they didn't seem to be average, and I was right on all counts.

It would take an average game to get an average score from me, I suppose. But I'd have to have the interest in an average looking game first, and......really that just doesn't happen until after the life of the system is up and I see those average games for about $5 each. Wii isn't dead yet.

I broke down and ordered Call of Duty: Black Ops after getting invited to join the OGs. At first I thought the single player campaign sucked, but I'm warming up to it; the online is brilliant: loads of game modes, loads of unlockables and such - and let's not forget it supports the new headset (if only it was readily available in the UK - apparently Argos will be having it by the end of Feb).

@sean aaron I am addicted to Black Ops right now. I also canned the single player and have devoted my time to the multiplayer which is incredibly well done and very playable on the wii. I've noticed that there are very few players using the headset. At least that is to say in the team deathmatch modes which is all I've really played so far

So add COD: Black Ops to my 3rd party list of games. Probably won't be buying anything new for a while since this is all I am playing for the

Not to derail too much, but I do plan on getting the headset, but it won't be available in the UK at retail until next month according to the European PDP sales rep I got a mail from. In the meantime I'm using Teamspeak. I did finish the single-player campaign yesterday - not that bad, but without multiplayer I'd be trading it in. I should have a mini-review on the blog next week.

On-topic I have my Conduit 2 pre-order in, so I'll have to start sharing time with Black Ops. I expect the single-player campaign for that game will be loads more interesting.

If I ever rated a game 5/10 or below is because I literally had no fun with it.

Hmm, that's good to know, since it contradicts NL's policy that a 5/10 represents an average game.
