Yeah, Last Story and some word on Pikmin 3 were definitely the glaring omissions for me...
...but the strong as all **** 3DS lineup, new cel-shaded Zelda, passive confirmation that Epic Mickey won't be an enormous pile of crap, AND an intriguing new Kirby game are keeping me happy enough that I can wait til next year to hear about those.
I was wondering the same thing. I thought that it would have been part of Nintendo's presentation for sure but no such luck. I'm a little disappointed but I can't complain with all the other truly awesome stuff Nintendo unveiled today.
Under normal conditions it does seem odd but at the same time we did way to many news today so it's easily forgiven. Plus a gave Nintendo's Press Perfect 10 out of 10.
I did come across some scans -- supposedly showing actual screenshots -- that look quite real, but I haven't seen these picked up by any major gaming blogs. (Or, am I missing something here?)
Link-Hero, Brawl was announced at the end of E3, not after. It was in a small gathering at the end of the last day. Nothing would be announced days after the conference and still be considered an "E3" reveal.
Also, thanks for the scans, Wario. Doesn't look like my kind of game at all, but after last week, I'm glad to at least tentatively cross off a title from my wish list -- until we see a trailer, that is.
Before you watch it and get your hopes up though, know that the release of "2010" at the end is for Japan. I doubt we'll be seeing a simultaneous worldwide release of this, as much as I'd love it.
Nice, thanks for the heads-up. Just out of curiosity, though: what was it in the video that put aside your initial distaste for the screenshots posted up above? It does look better than I'd envisioned, after seeing it in motion and all, but it's still the same general aesthetic that we saw in the screenshots. I suppose the combat does look much more interesting here, and the towns / locations shown in passing.

It's the combat, absolutely. I still would prefer a different art style, but the game play looks really fun. If this were just a standard JRPG (what I half-expected, given the source), the style would have put me off, as a JRPG is all about style and humor for me (hence my love of Mother 3 despite not liking most RPGs in general). But this looks more like Demon's Souls with more RPG elements, and so the aesthetic (though still not ideal) seems at least appropriate.
If I'm just choosing commands from a menu, I feel like the game needs to recognize visually that it is just a game, nothing serious. But when you're involved in lots of tense action, it gets a free pass from me to pretend it's real, serious business, if that makes sense. I am just theorizing my gut reaction, which was: This looks too fun to care about how it looks.
It looks like this should be a PS3 game -- not because of any advanced graphics, but the visual and game play style seem more suited to that general audience. And after just selling my PS3, I think this will fill that tiny void nicely.
I see, that makes sense. I'm also intrigued by the combat, and I have to agree that the burden of having stylistic or inventive visuals is lessened if the gameplay is more active rather than turn-based. The realistic look may fit the gameplay nicely.

Holy effing ****. The combat looks brilliant, and far different from what I was expecting. My only complaints right now are the stiff animations and terrible VO, but that's not really much of a problem considering how absolutely fantastic this looks.
I can't see it not getting localized. Nintendo is publishing it. They pushed Monster Hunter a lot, which I believe has been successful (right?), and this should have a similar general appeal. If Monster Hunter can sell third-person action-RPG on Wii in North America, there's no reason a game with "Made by the creator of Final Fantasy" stamped on the box shouldn't sell, too.
Yer, looks fantastic. Best parts were when he shot that guy with the crossbow and later when he back-flipped over the cover.
I wonder if they'll advertise it as a fantasy third person shooter in the west, that would be strange but could work really well.
btw, why did you sell your PS3 Adam? Seems a strange thing to do.

@Adam: Monster Hunter has done okay over here. VGChartz says it's sold a little less than a quarter of a million copies, compared to Japan's million+. It's sold even less in Europe.
I agree though, since Ninty's publishing it it'll probably get localized. :3
