I don't want any of these. I want them to lift file restriction from the Wiiware service and load games using the SD memory. That's it basically.

So ends a saga older than time itself.

I think being able to play DVDs or CDs is a hardware issue, there's no reason why it wouldn't have been enabled from the start if the console had the capability?

Out of interest, does anyone have a link to a change log of past Wii updates?

Nope, there's firmware made by pirates that can play them, no added hardware necessary, just the software.

My mistake! That's weird, why the hell did Nintendo choose not to include this?? Tbh I'm glad they didn't, one of the main things I love about the Wii compared to its generational counterparts is that it's a purer gaming platform, but from a business perspective surely it would have helped sales?

I just want to be able to backup my saves without having to use unmentionable means.

It's simple really, just have the copied save files include a lock on any Wi-Fi data. (Making it so the save file will work on any Wii, but the Wi-Fi data will only work on the original Wii.)

shake_zula, I agree, and it was a smart business decision since they don't have to pay license fees this way. It's also better for the hardware maintenance.

I would like the ability to return unwanted VC and WiiWare titles for half-price. That might not have anything to do with the Wii Update 4.3, but it still sounds neat.

Just want to point out that a firmware update wouldn't be able to fix this "issue", the game's developers would have to make it that way.

Bacon, RPG elements and cute girls, what more could you want?

I don't think lifting the file-size restrictions would be a good idea, but certainly raising them... Then again, that shouldn't have much to do with firm-ware.

The iPhone's app store has a file size limit of 2GB apparently, so I don't see why a full-fledged console couldn't have the same.

2GB would mean you could have CD-based games on VC too. Like Sega Saturn and Dreamcast games. Ooooh.

Hmm, maybe some extra hairstyles, eyes, mouths and noses for Miis, though that won't happen because it would potentially mess up games that use Miis.
Gamecube controller support for the Wii menu would be kinda nice I suppose. The thing I really want isn't a Wii update, but a Wii Shop update. More streamlined, faster and with a complete demo service.

A link between the Shop Channel and the Nintendo Channel would be useful. Browse some videos and then dircetly shop, or the other way around, the ability to see videos when finding an interesting game in the shop channel.

A backup feature (even if it would be something like backup-all, restore-all) would be good.

That would be a welcome idea for people who own a large capacity SD card, but most people without one wouldn't be able to fit many onto their console. For that, we would need an external hard drive.

Additionally, until they (BT) roll out an Internet connection all across the country (in Britain, that is), I won't be downloading any 2GB games.

Nintendo know that not everyone has a selection of SD cards and adequately fast broadband, and thus, I don't think they'll be planning to alienate them in this way.

Maybe it's something for the next console.

Ability to read game save data from SD (especially for DLC as some of that can be pretty big) - that might be a tall order though; not sure if that's part of game code or IOS...

Otherwise I'm happy, the SD solution really addressed my biggest issue.

Oddly, there isn't much that I want in the next update... at least, not that Wii is able to realistically provide.

Getting a downloadable DVD channel would be nice I guess, but doesn't require a system update. (For people wondering, Nintendo probably didn't include that originally because they would have to pay a licensing fee for the DVD codec on each Wii console. Making it a downloadable channel would probably overcome that issue, though - so that people who want the extra functionality are the ones who actually pay the cost.)

It would also be nice if previous IOS versions were updated to allow old games to use high-capacity SD cards for stuff like photos in Animal Crossing, or music playlists in Excite Truck. But that seems to be against Nintendo's policy since it would require a ton of testing to ensure backwards compatibility.

Um... maybe an improved way to copy multiple save files to/from an SD card, so that backing up your entire Wii was easier? Bonus points if there was a way to copy over those unmovable save files (Animal Crossing, for example).
