If you didn't pay for the Internet Channel, you had the points to buy a NES game there. And who cares if you have to wait till October?
Thing is that money is tight for me to come by; and I'd rather save any points I'm saving for a N64 game... ex: SSB64 is long overdue & I'm still waiting for it! But just because those who didn't have to spend 500 Points for the Internet Channel; can't get the free 500 point NES game! With that I'm majorly dissapointed; for I'm out of the chance for a free game! And it sucks anyways; for people will have to wait for October for them to get their free game anyways! And anyways; those waiting for the Club Nintendo freebie of Doc Lewes' Punch-Out have to wait until the end of November! These months just can't come by any faster; now can you bloody get the point?!

I don't understand how people can be complaining about this. They're going to give you a free NES game. Every time there's a price drop, do you expect Nintendo to reimburse you for it? So, you bought Super Mario Galaxy at launch for $50. Do you say "I'm pissed off, because now it's $30 and I don't get my $20 back." No. What they're basically doing is giving you a gift to say, "Sorry, but we appreciate that you bought it when it wasn't free"

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
1. Donkey Kong - Had this on my ColecoVision and loved it. 2. Super Mario Bros. - Never played. 3. Legend of Zelda - Never played. 4. Double Dragon - Remember this in the arcades. 5. Ghosts n' Goblins - Remember this in the arcades.
I've got to admit, the few VC games I've downloaded have turned out to be much better when I simply remembered playing them as opposed to replaying them now. However if I have to buy a VC game (as opposed to something on WiiWare), it'll be one of the above five. Unless, of course, someone can convince me to consider something different.

It definitely is cheap of Nintendo to make you get an NES game. They should give you the 500 points back so you could get what you want. Like if you have 300 extra points you could get an SNES game.

Nintendo is one of those companies that offers a refund from something you bought that became less expensive. They could have just not given us anything, so be happy.

For all of you complaining: Who cares if they're forcing an NES game on us. They could just as easily not give us anything. So just be happy you get something out of this. And besides, what's wrong with NES games?
EDIT: Also, I don't know what I'll buy. It's all the way by the end of october, new NES games could be released within this time. Besides, I just got MPT and also have Scribblauts coming on the 15th.
What everyone defending this nonsense is failing to recognize or acknowledge is that the Nintendo Shop Channel is closed system, a monopoly, and a point of purchase in which no prices have been changed... ever. There is no other outlet for acqurirng WiiWare titles (even the Amazon World of Goo arrangement gives you a download ticket to be used via the Shop Channel). There is ZERO expectation of discounting over time, and therefore no monetary value in delaying purchases - the price of title X will be the same in a month or a year as it is today. This is the precedent set by Nintendo, in their Nintendo-controlled storefront. To make a first-party title free in the Shop Channel is to make it free to ALL Wii owners - not SOME. Those that paid for this title should therefore be reimbursed their purchase price in points to be used at their individual discretion, not compelled to own an alternate title they may very well have no interest in whatsoever.
This is not about five bucks. It's about equitable business practices towards all consumers in the Nintendo-controlled Shop Channel ecosystem. Any comparsion to another type of purchase is invalid on its face.
I'm gonna get............ Baseball. Purely for nostalgic reasons. I remember spending a whole $1.50 playing this one afternoon twenty years ago in a long gone arcade. And I have practically everything else NES available on the VC.
"Put. That. Coffee. Down. Coffee's for closers only."
It is far beyond me how anybody can complain about this deal. You've willingly payed 5 bucks for the channel and now Nintendo decides to give it out for free in the future (after you've been using it for over 2 years) plus they even offer you something, which they have absolutely no need to. Some people are just greedy, I guess. But best of all are the people demanding any sort of lawsuit. lol A lawsuit AGAINST a voluntary gift? Yes, a gift. That's all it is. Things get cheaper after a while and nobody in their right mind would ask to be refunded in any way.
Super Mario Bros. 3. This will be my 1st NES VC Game, and the 1st game I will get against my will. I'm forced to get something, so why not the best NES game?
