Say what?! I die when I hit the lava. Freeon can swim in it? I wonder if I just never thought to switch to him then, or if I did something wrong.

Also, I figured the top part was unnecessary, but what about that other lava segment at the top of the undeground area?

I forget what was there. Maybe a heart container or something.
But yeah, if you have enough energy (preferably all containers full), you can survive in the lava for a few seconds, enough to quickly jump out and get to safety. I suggest investing 15-20 minutes refilling all your energy to max using the toads before going there. There's a boss battle after crossing those lava pits.
Oh, by the way, if you get hit by one of those floating enemies before falling into the lava, you'll have extra seconds of mercy invincibility you wouldn't get otherwise. That could also help.

Oh man, thank you so much. I was probably not going to return to this game, except possibly to restart from the beginning. I would never have thought to even try swimming in lava. The game does have a few iffy design decisions, but it is wonderful regardless. Can't wait to get back into it later today!

Ive got all four characters and 1 magic key so far. Also if more than 3 enemies are on the screen, i get alot of slowdown.Does anyone else experience this?

How do I fill the pit with water from the tap?

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

You need Bop-Louie's wall-climbing equipment first, found high in the sky.

I only have a few pickups left to get. Maybe four or so. But two questions:

How do I get to that isolated little collection of screens in the bottom left corner of my map? Two pickups are there and I'm not sure how to get there.

Also, does my little orange dinosaur friend have a special attack? I have the special attack for the other three, but he feels really defenseless without one. Also, he's my favorite, because he's dumb and chubby, so if I had my way, I'd give him all the attacks and tell the rest of these bozos to get lost.

It's not the right-most tip of the area above it, because I was there recently, so it must be the other. Thanks bunches. To show my appreciation, I will not drop any bombs until you give me explicit authorization to do so.

IIRC, one of the underwater pathways led there.
I think it was all the way down, and then left.

Dang, I was wrong about having visited the area above the one I wanted to explore. Silly old bird. But you were right about the entrance being to the right of it. Thanks!

Now I have all the keys and all of the marked pickups. (I've noticed Medicine isn't marked, and each time I get a Heart Container they tell me I can fill it with Water of Life, which I assume is also hidden somewhere, unmarked.) Just have to find that door that I discovered early in the game and...haven't really seen since. D'oh.

(Awesome game though. Definitely in my top 5 VC discoveries!)

The dark area is super annoying. It takes forever to bomb down both paths, and both paths just reset you up top! What the heck!

How do I get that light turned on and the chest underneath it? I got two keys so far and everyone's special attack, so I should be equipped with everything, I think.

I finally made it across the lava area. Funny thing is, after trying it a million times with no success, I go back to it today, armed with the knowledge that I can swim in lava, and I make it across on my first try, not having to swim. Damn you, Ufouria.

Yeah, I saw the light and left, expecting that I needed to get my still-defenseless (at the time) dragon friend a fire attack to light it up or something.

But no. I ended up in the dark rooms again when looking for something else, and figured I might as well check again for a light switch. Lo and behold, in the first bombable floor area (the one that's just a solid mass of blocks with a door at the bottom), bomb the left-most area, straight down. When you get to the bottom, you will find the switch.

It's the kind of thing that would have frustrated me if I hadn't accidentally found it. There's really no hint, except for the fact that a big mess of bombable bricks is there in the first place. But Gil takes his sweet time barfing up explosives, which does sort of limit one's patience for dropping them on every possible brick.

Ah well. You are authorized to bomb the leftmost area of that explodable floor. Light up the room, and proceed from there.

Just bought this on a whim (and because they said if I did, more imports would come), and its really awesome! Its like a metroid game, but with an odd sense of humor I just lost to the blue thing in the sky, and I have every partner but the frog, and Bop Louie and Shade's special attacks.
How long is it? I got a little concerned when I picked up 2 partners very early on, but it doesnt seem to be too short.
And now Ill probably stay out of this thread for fear of spoilers

Philip_J_Reed

I'd have to check to see how long I played, but I'd imagine I invested between four and five hours to finish it. That sounds short, and, hey, maybe it is. But I already want to play it again, and it'll be nice to have another game that I can play through in one sitting, rather than having to block out a week's worth of gaming time whenever I want to revisit it.

I got to the boss behind the door you need three keys to open... and was destroyed. I don't guess the Water of Life reappears, or is it considered like medicine? It is too tiresome to refill all my life by enemy drops and rounding up all the medicine every time I game over, so I'll probably just toss in the towel if the Water of Life doesn't reappear. Then again, I probably should be careful even with that. Didn't work out too well for Lady Jessica.

Not sure if the Water of Life reappears as I didn't get it. Am I correct in assuming it was at the top of that area where you need to freeze the flying enemies and scale the room that way? I got frustrated and gave up.

And yeah, the first two times I fought the boss I got my butt handed to me, but he's pretty close to where you start (depending how you go), so I'd recommend just going there with a medicine or two to get the hang of his pattern. When I beat him (the third or fourth time I faced him) I wouldn't have needed more than one medicine's worth of health, so it's doable without having to grind for life.

Yep, that's where it is. Is there much after him? I don't want to repeatedly gather medicine and fight him only to finally squeak by and then get destroyed by something else.
