Topic: Tournament of Legends Launching For $30??!!

While I was prowling the preorder screens on Gamestop's website (because I use my limited free time effectively), I couldn't help but notice High Voltage Software's upcoming title appearing to launch for a bargain bin price. For those of you that don't know, Tournament of Legends is an upcoming 3D fighter that was originally Gladiator A.D. HVS are also the studio responsible for The Conduit and the upcoming game The Grinder.

So, what do you think about this?

Still not worth it, what are there like 8-10 fighters? You get that many with Rage of the Gladiator for a $10 Wiiware game. Also, be wary, they may change it from 3D Fighter to dual stick shooter then to a Suduku collection.

Well, BlazBlue had only around a dozen fighters and that tirned out pretty good.

lol Rage of the Gladiator will own Tournament of Legends...there has hardly been 'any' coverage or hype for this game that's quitely hiding until it's doomed release date. I have zero interest in Tournament of Legends, but let's just wait and see...Even IGN's coverage was weird...they went hands on with it and gave out zero personal feelings towards the game, they basically just told everybody what you actually do in the game....HVS, eat my shorts.

For some reason HVS is just a respected (by some in the game community) version of DDI.

I was going to pass on this and stick with Rage of the Gladiator, but at just $30 I may reconsider depending on the reviews.

Rage of the gladiator looks way better than this and saying that they're like DDI is harsh because they have made some games that are total crap but they have made some decent games unlike DDI who have made nothing but total crap.

so gamestop says it's coming in July? Amazon doesn't list it. I'm not entirely convinced that the game will be out. It might be indefinitely delayed. they also have to add Wi-Fi support...

you know, I hate to say this but I think HVS are "frauds"... it's just like with that game Sadness. I have no problem with the Conduit, but look at this article:

People say to be realistic and there's nothing wrong with the Grinder going multiplatform, but then it seems that there will not even be a Wii version.
I was excited about the Conduit 2 but they might just have made it up too.
There are other games of HVS that they will probably not release or who knows (Animales)

Some of their comments about Gladiator A.D.:

"Gladiator A.D. is going to redefine the fighting game genre on the Wii" --> end result: no wi-fi, generic, no WM+, looking worse than wiiware game??

"Gladiator A.D. is our next step in filling the holes in the Wii's library." --> said by whom ended up totally abandoing the wii and making false promises.

"This game is brutally violent" --> yeah.. right.

"We are seven months into full production. We have nearly every environment complete and many of our fighters have been modeled, rigged, and animated." --> but strangely, game looks nothing like it used too. "our current timetable places us at a Q1 2010 release. ".

I don't think there was ever any bad INTENT from HVS, but they should think first and speak second.

Not that I have any interest in the game but it looks a lot better then the punchout style gameplay it previously had. The gameplay looked pretty slow though.

3D fighting games leave me cold, that's all I really have to say about it. It looks better than the early previews, but I prefer the simplicity of Rage of the Gladiator.
