Turn-based, yes, but it's set to a timer. Once the timer for both players runs out, their moves are executed at the same time. The fighting takes place in increments so you won't see everything transpire all at once. If that makes sense.
I'm getting the wiiware version now. latter we can meet up and exchange replays and fight each other and stuff. I'll let you know if it's awesome or not.
You CAN turn blood off in the PC version I think though.

@Angaran- I was going to say anyways, so know I get to help out you and others.
I'd say (I've only had it for an hour) that I recommended it to SOME people. Personally I like it, but others might not.The turn based fighting is actually more fun than one might think., each person selects joints and toggles them in certain ways and a very small incriment of the fight plays. The ways to win (I've only tried classic) are to damage your oppenent the most when the fight is over (this rarely happens). or to disqualify them by making them step out of the ring or hit the floor. Actually, the best part of the game might be replay's. When you put the small bits together it really becomes amazing. You can even send your replays to wii friends!Maybe the decisding factor is if you enjoy online, as the game focuses heavily on it. The only offline is training with a dummy, tutorials (Trust me, you'll need them) and local multiplayer. So Angaran, to answer your question (and anyone else who may be wondering) I think 1000 is too high, but not a rip-off, 800 would be about right. Still, I recomend it to anyone wants a unique game and an innovative new fighter. The online is full-featured with all matches, rankings, and replays. So I think you should probably get it, unless the whole turn-based combat is out of your league, as there IS a high learning curve, but it is worth it once you get it down. It's kidna like a D.I.Y. fighter in that you create your own moves. So I think you should get it. (PLease note though that this game can be bloody at times, and there is no way to turn it off, although luckily for those who dislike blood you can change it's color and it's not realilistic to begin with) P.S. I am opening a Toribash online matches thread, so when you get it please come there to play with me and other NL members.

For judgement purposes on leraning curve, look at the time I posted, I got it 12:15 about, that's how long it takes to begin to understand it.

Does the Wiiware version have a better tutorial than the PC one? I hope it does because the one in the PC version did not help at all, and I still don't really understand the game that well when it comes to making my character do what I want.

@hylian-I've never tried the PC version, but I'll help you or the tutorials can. The tutorials are some-what helpful. They show you all the joints, how to boost select joints, kick, spin, and jump, really the fun of the game is experimenting on your own though. Don't let that keep you from buying it, as other users can help you.

It DOES take a long time to learn, and each person has their strenghs and weaknesses. For example I'm good at keeping up as long as I can without falling, but I'm bad at dealing damage and dismembering people. (Although I HAVE ripped a oppenents head off, but I still lost).

Just tried this game, I don't know what to say... It's hard to tell what your character will do sometimes. I think I'll look at YouTube for a tutorial or hints about some moves.
