I know that the Tony Hawk Ride and Shred both use a controller very similar to the Balance Board, so I imagine that those are toned down compared to the THUG games. As for the rest of the games, I have no idea.
I do recommend trying out Shaun White Skateboarding, though. Its down to about 5 bucks on Amazon! (Thats skateboarding, not snowboarding.) I gave it a shot and it reminded me of the THUG games. You can't walk around, but the overall gameplay feels very similar to the old Tony Hawk games. As you skate around accomplishing goals, you'll transform the level much like in THUG. You cannot create your own character, but each character in the game has a few sets of clothes and each character has a crazy costume that you can unlock by finding secrets. The gameplay and story are pretty crazy and it has local multiplayer as well. For some reason, you cannot use unlocked clothes in the multiplayer mode, though. tony hawk downhill jam is awesome. but it is a racing game like ssx. i really liked it. it was a launchgame so dont expect soemthing big. no online but splitscreen
