I picked up a classic controller yesterday, and it's proof that controllers really do make a difference. The perfect blend between the Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 controller, it is making me enjoy Super Metroid and Paper Mario a lot much more, especially after using the GameCube controller. It's also making me really want to play Final Fantasy II (IV). (Come on Square, release it already!)

If you like VC titles and don't own one of these awesome controllers yet, go out and grab one. You won't regret it.

I think that the classic controller is only good for SNES games. I greatly prefer the Gamecube controller for N64 games and the Wii Remote by itself for NES.

They are really great. They're the perfect size, too. But I only use them for SNES and N64.

The Wii remote by itself for NES games works fine, though the classic controller is much more comfortable.

I use the classic controller for all of the CC compatible games except for the NES games, I use the Wii Remote by itself for those.

I like using the GCN controller much better for N64 games. I don't like where the control stick is placed on the classic controller, for the same reason I don't like the PS controller. It's just awkward. I hate having to move my thumb all the way to the bottom of the controller to use it. The GCN controller is gaming nirvana. I just bought a Wavebird today. They're so tough to find anymore!

I agree, playing Majora's Mask with the Classic controller stinks, for example. As for the NES games, I like the clicky feel of the Wi Remote better because its a bit more responsive. At least in SMB you can reach the B button easier making it easier to run.

When I first got the CC I thought I had wasted my money because I only had one VC game that used enough buttons to warrant it. Dozens of titles later and it's definitely worthwhile. I like it so well I use it instead of the Gamecube controller for my few Gamecube games via a Classic Linker. I'm hoping the CC Pro gets a release outside Japan as well because the shoulder button placement will suit some games better and I'd prefer not to have them be analogue.

I'm hoping this will be the Club Nintendo platinum gift like in Japan. I think I'd only use it for SNES games though. Wii remote is just more similar to the NES controller, and I think I'll prefer the Gamecube controller for N64 (I like the joystick placement, and the c stick more resembles the c buttons than the CC controller's would).

I would give nintendo money for an N64 shaped classic controller. sigh.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

I love the classic controller. kind of a cross between an snes controller and a ps2 controller. The n64 controller was ok but I have the gamecube controller design.

Classic controller has worked well for me as well. The wire coming out of the bottom of the controller instead of the top is really lame though. Someone definitely miffed on that one.

No one liked it with the Dreamcast controller, so I'm not sure whose idea it was to try it again with the classic controller.

I bought the classic controller before I bought any VC games so I don't know the anguish of not having one, but it's almost like playing the Super Nintendo again. I didn't think I'd be able to go back to that era, but now its certainly possible with Virtual Console and a classic controller.

I use my Super Famicom classic controller for games that don't need the analog sticks, but I do like the standard classic controller for games that do.

Plain old gamer :)

I prefer using my SNES, NES, and GC controllers instead of the CC becuase it feels awkward having to have the Wiimote rest on my lap. The pixelman should get a retroport!

Did you ever own a Super Famicom? I was always jealous of all the games I saw in magazines that were only released on the Super Famicom.

Yeah, the classic controller is spot on for Paper Mario.
