Because...I already have it. If I wanted to play that game RIGHT now, I could walk over three steps and put the cartridge in the slot and start playing it. Bot for some reason, I'm still buying it (and alot of other games I could have easily played without VC, which now I have like Super Mario 64.). So it BETTER come out Monday, so I can waste my $10 on it already!
Why download a game you already have? I'll only download Super Mario 64 when my N64 breaks. Otherwise, it's a waste of $10. However, I did download Donkey Kong Country 3 to have a DKC game on my Wii. That, and I got Lost Levels as an excuse to have Super Mario Bros. on my Wii. The excuse is that they aren't games I already have.

He may not like the N64 controller and since its old it may have problems.
Agreed. Played the N64 SSB the other night with a control stick that had been worn down from overuse. Can't wait to get the VC version and totally own with the Gamecube controller (wanna give the classic controller a try too). Something tells me I'll be right at home since I'm a recovering Melee addict.

Brawl is just so much better than the original that I really don't care.
But the only thing Brawl has on SSB is (not great) online. It certainly doesn't play better.
You're right about that. I consider the original to be superior to Super Smash Bros. Brawl too.
What about the other Trophies? the Stickers? The characters? The Subspace emissary? Their a lot of stuff SSBB has over SSB.
It seems to all be a matter of perspective. The trophies and stickers are an ok distraction (preferred Melee trophies to Brawl trophies, but even they wore thin), but I found the Subspace Emissary to be rather cold/dry. I will give you characters, at least to start with (LOVE Meta-Knight, Pit, Wario, Zero-Suit Samus, Ike, Pokemon Trainer, Diddy Kong, Dedede, and Olimar)...but then with the unlockable ones I was dissapointed Oh well fixed your quotes too :3 -- TBD
Yes, but you still can have more points. He simply didn't add them in the Shop Channel. I've got around 20.000 points myself, but only 6.900 on the Shop Channel.

I never play my old consoles these days and much prefer the convenience of having all the games right there guaranteed to work with no messing about or anything. Plus the suspend feature greatly appeals to me.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

There is NO limit to how many points you have on the Shop Channel. Therefore I have 14800 points ON the Shop Channel.
I have a pretty strong feeling that Smash is coming this week, since this is the week for Christmas. It doesn't really matter for me since I already have Smash on my N64.

That stuff's just fluff - Little Distractions to keep you going at it. The core gameplay is more or less the same. Sure, there are few tweaks here and there, the new characters, and new stages, but for the most part the games are still pretty similar. IMO, even with all the additions, I still find the original Super Smash Bros. more fun to play, not only because I really like the characters and stages, but also because it doesn't feel all watered down by all the fluff that got added into the later iterations.
