Well then look at the camera controls in sunshine, the fact that you run around with a water dispenser all the time (you want that in every mario? If it's so brilliant?) and the epic feeling it lacks in comparison to Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy. I'm not saying Sunshine isn't a good game, just the least good 3D Mario.
Technically yes, since from what I've seen, Yoshi offers many different abilities, much like the water pack did in Sunshine. Not to mention the Sunshine Galaxy. Now all it needs is an awesome hub world with a bunch of secrets and characters to interact with, and is nothing like the $h!tty one in the first Galaxy, and it will have redeemed itself to me, and perhaps to all other fans of Super Mario Sunshine.

Indeed; the quick-run effect of that one edible item is very similar to the speed nozzle. And let's not forget that this game joins Sunshine as the only 2 main-series 3D Mario games to feature (a playable) Yoshi. But even on a more basic level, this game seems to be going for the bright, vacation-y feel of Sunshine, instead of the more, um, galactic look of Galaxy.
I'm torn on that. I loved Sunshine, but I also have to say that I prefer the darker interplanetary scenery of Galaxy to just about anything composed of green plants and blue skies. However, it will be a great summer game, I'm sure, and I also expect a whole lot of variety beyond what we've seen so far.
Don't forget, by the way, that Sunshine featured the "space" segments where you'd run across huge, rotating 3D objects (sans waterpack). Those were the closest precursor to Galaxy in the series.

Obviously this is going to be awesome. Unfortunately this Sunshine stage is only going to be a portion of the game but it is a great idea. Hope that I'll Pintisimo returns! (I know that I spelled his name wrong.)

Those were also some of the best Mario stages ever.
