..am I the only one who's okay with one VC game every two week? I wouldn't say I'm nostalgic really, there's been improvements in many small areas such as GUIs that make it hard for me to go back to old games. I'd much rather have remakes.

I'd much rather have cheap originals that I don't have to go around kingdom come trying to find, or paying huge shipping charges buying online. Very few remakes really make the extra cost worth it in my eyes.

And I WISH we got 1 or 2 VC games a week. I really do. That would be simply stupdendous. What I HATE is that we 1 or 2 VC games a month.

Do I think that Nintendo should stop making Wiiware games?? No I dont.

While I can say I have bought a ton of VC games and only one Wiiware title, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, I cannot say for other people that VC is better than Wiiware. Granted I do think that they release a ton more Wiiware games than VC games why that is I dont know, but saying that Nintendo should stop making Wiiware games makes as much sense as a person who likes Wiiware over the VC saying that NIntendo should stop making VC games. Personally I think they should have equal amount of Wiiware release as they do VC. For example if they release 2 Wiiware games they should than release 2 VC games. Its not fair to the people who mainly bought the Wii for the VC games to get screwed like this, after all one of the big selling points that Nintendo mentioned over and over again during the development of the Wii was the ability to download older games from older systems.

@InvisibleTune: Thats great that you still have your old systems but unfortunatly for some people like me, we dont have our old systems anymore for whatever reasons. So the VC is great for playing those great games again. Also a VC game is much cheaper than buying the old systems again which can run pretty pricey even if like me you still have your old cartridges. Plus also some people are weary of buying an old systems especially online they dont want to deal with the hassle of what if it doesnt work how will I return it etc etc. So I cant see how you can say that the VC is pointless.

I would love to see an F-Zero game on WiiWare with multiplayer like the one found in ExciteBike.

I'd love it if they released stuff more evenly. I don't know why they stopped doing that, its really sad. I did buy a Wii mostly for VC, and while I wouldn't say I'm entirely disappointed in it, I am frustrated that so few games I'm extremely interested in aren't released, or will never be released. I'm not a fan of Wiiware in the slightest, however, and the fact that Nintendo seems to be putting so much focus on Wiiware and DSiWare frustrates me to no end. If they could just find an equilibrium, then they could satisfy all of their customers.

And hopefully InvisibleTune meant VC is pointless to him, otherwise that statement was the most rediculous thing I've read all day, and that's saying something considering some of the rants I've read today.

I bought my Wii mostly for the VC (especially N64) and like many other people I'm very disappointed in the way it's often neglected. I have only downloaded 2 wiiware games and I've deleted both, so yeah I'd be happy if they stopped making it and put more into VC, but I'd be even happier if there was more balance.

IMO DSIware is pointless to me but thats mainly cause I dont have any of the newer DS models and I wont get one. The main reason for that is cause I still have a ton of GBA games and none of the newer DS models have the GBA slot.

Which games did you get?

Tetris Party and Frogger Returns. I also downloaded the Pokemon Rumble and World of Goo demos. I never bothered to get the whole thing of Pokemon Rumble and I thought World of Goo was lame.

Next time you upgrade to a new TV, Mickey, look for one with VGA input, or whatever the monitor plug is called on PC. I have a TV like that and a game pad for my computer. The video output is finicky, but it's still a lovely compromise for games that aren't available on console or are just not available in English (like Mother 3). When I worked at a university, I used to play on a projector after hours, too. Man, that was awesome. I miss that job.

I think balance is the key to keeping everyone satisfied. I'm not sure if Nintendo intentionally scaled back Virtual Console releases or if they released the majority of what they could early on (the games where rights negotiations went more smoothly) and now have to struggle to get agreements for more games. On the other hand, they could be emphasizing WiiWare now as the vision of the future rather than being stuck in the past.

Yes, there is a lot of bad WiiWare, but there are also some absolute gems. I'm not as big a fan of downloadable console games as I once was, as I notice the experiences tend to be a lot more limited than disc-based console games. These limited experiences are much more suitable for portable gaming, where most people are just looking for a quick game to kill a few minutes.

I do love some of my WiiWare games (Groovin' Blocks, NyxQuest, Water Warfare, Bit.Trip Beat, and Tomena Sanner were all fun games), but I always just seem to play them a lot for a few days and then move on. I'd much rather play games like that on my cell phone, where they are free or a few dollars at most.

I'll think about that, but I have a feeling it'll be a couple years (like, 4 or 5) before I upgrade my TV. I've had bad experiences with PC controllers over the years, so at most I might get an adapter for my PS2 controller, if I can find one for a good price (which I haven't). It just defeats the purpose of emulating if I have to pay money to do it, you know.

Like what? (just saving the trouble of asking since I haven't played much more than he has)

No. Putting a VC game up is just transfering it into a download file. Doesnt take that long. VC is great. Lots of SMB, Kirby, and Megaman. Thats enough for me.

I don't know what the topic creator is necessarily trying to ask. Does he/she want Nintendo to stop making games on their own service or does he/she want the service to be discontinued? Or both?

I suspect that 3rd parties are having lacklustre sales of both VC and WiiWare titles because, simply-put, Nintendo's reliance upon a pull rather than a push method of marketing their online wares isn't getting enough consumers on board. If I didn't read NL and I didn't have a Club Nintendo account I'd have no idea either service existed and the only reason I'd get my Wii online would be if I wanted to use something like the Weather Channel or News Channel, that's pretty hard to fight against.

Nintendo should have a system set-up dialogue that launches when you first turn it on the same as when you get a new Mac that walks you through your whole system configuration straight away including the network; maybe a "how to use your Wii" disc or demo channel so you can do it later, rather than counting on people to want to read their owner's manual and go through the setup menus. Once online you'd then get pushed any free channels via pop-ups rather than the message indicator in the corner. This is stuff they could do right now without rolling out a new machine and if they're going to want to continue with the Wii and develop downloads more on it I think they should do so.

Actually, Sean, it wasn't long into the Wii's life cycle when they started using demo channels that do just that called the "Get Connected" channel. Perhaps it was a North America-only thing. Wikipedia says it started in 2008, but I have no idea if that's the case or if they still install this channel on new Wiis, but I remember people here talking about it, so I know it's not completely fabricated.
