There was a rumor article posted at Ign a few weeks ago stating that Opera may be updating the wii internet browser this holiday season here are a few changes that were listed Flash updated to flash 10.1 Javascript capabilities added "no specific version was hinted" A copy and paste feature
That's about everything that was important in the article I hope this rumor is true since it would make virtually everything wii friendly for a period of time, including facebook games :3
Would be very nice. I have my Wii in the same room as my computer now, so it doesn't do much good. Could come in handy in the future though. I just wish the 3DS and DSi browsers would be updated...
Nintendo - Where even first person shooters ooze creativity.
Please say this isn't just a rumor Opera! I would love to lay back in my bed and surf anywhere I want on the net. This would also mean that I could finally watch videos at IGN and GameSpot. Fricken Awesome! (<:
@WiiAboutU I wish I could answer your question but NL forbids talk about a members own website unless it somehow is on topic like the Comment on the signature above you topic
On topic I hope the Javascript will be the latest version as well that way even if only briefly the Wii will have an up to date internet browser :3
I actually got a rather, shall I say basic response from myopera stating: We are currently considering an update to the Wii browser, however we cannot talk about the details right now. We will let the media know about the details if the update is approved by Nintendo.
@Nin-Pal I personally agree with you Nintendo is likely too busy with the Wii U right now to approve small things like a browser update, but regardless I think this information should be posted
I highly doubt this is true, Nintendo is done with the Wii. Besides, I'm pretty sure Iwata said any ideas they had to improve the Wii functionality they are going to use for the Wii U instead. "There were piles of things that we weren't able to fully accomplish with Wii, from our perspective. And while it was natural for us in wanting to improve on those one by one, we thoroughly talked about how those issues wouldn't be solved unless a structural change had occurred. - Iwata on the Wii U
This has nothing to do with the amount of attention the Wii is still receiving from Nintendo @Neram. Opera is supposedly creating this update for us, the only thing Nintendo would have to do or accomplish is to make it available on their servers. Which they better comply with, because I think they've lost enough respect from their customer base. And if that isn't the case, then why would Opera be attempting this feat in the first damn place?
Our Wii's have 512 MB of available RAM at their disposal and if that's enough for my computer's operating system then it's plenty enough for my Wii.
Holy sh... I didn't know my Wii had twice as much RAM as my PS3!
The Wii has 512 MB of Flash Storage built in for storing downloaded software. That's roughly comparable to the function of your PC's hard drive and has nothing to do with the Wii's RAM, of which it has 88 MB combined.
