I, a newcomer to the Punch-Out!! series, received the Wii iteration of the game for my birthday a few days ago. It easily became my favorite Wii game within my first day of playing it, and I have not put it down since returning from vacation Saturday and gaining access to my Wii. The completely satisfying and unorthodox puzzle gameplay, insanely detailed, atmospheric, cartoonish, and vibrant graphics, charm and attention to the tiniest intricacies, pacing, wit, personality, humor, and depth are just a few of the things that this game absolutely nails. This game is my true 10/10.
This is what the series has always been like. It's amazing to see how much Punch Out Wii kept the charm of Punch-Out and Super Punch-Out, but yet adding a fresh coat of paint to the game and adding in some extra stuff like the 2nd circuit.
I don't have any punch out games, but i ordered the Club Nintendo Punch Out game
Sweet! It may only be one fight, but you'll get the feel of the Wii version. If you enjoy Doc Louis' Punch-Out!!, I highly suggest purchasing the standard edition.

That's my plan (if i like the Doc Louis version, that is)

Yup pretty much. Same game, new graphics. The newbie might find this Ninty rehash (which are getting all too frequent) less charming if they played all the earlier games in a row before playing the new one.
I discovered the series about a year ago on the VC, and instantly fell in love with it. I was glad the new game stayed true to its roots, but it really did add some good new features, and there's craploads of content to keep you occupied. I don't know how anyone in their right mind would be dissapointed with this game, unless they were expecting a realistic boxing sim.

@Kid_A Apparently people were just disappointed after waiting over a decade for a new Punch-Out!! They thought it was going to be all-new. That's the only thing that would make sense to me.
But most of it IS all new! The Title Defense stuff, while it features previously seen characters, is completely new, as is Mac's Last Stand, Exhibition Mode, Multiplayer Mode, and all the bonus challenges. The only thing that's almost completely the same is the gameplay--and it's the gameplay that makes Punch-Out!! so amazing. I just don't understand the hate.

I am a noob to this game as well and I really liked it. It's very stylish and fun to play. It makes me interested in boxing. I will only play this game with the motion controls.
Somebody set up us the bomb. Wii: 8703 7486 8875 3789 I love PWN3NG NintendoLife members on Tatsunoko :-)
@Kid_A I don't get it either, but I think that's what people like to fall back on. Besides all the the sequel talk, this is basically the most they could change the series without messing it up.
@Ramandus I actually favor the NES-style control scheme.
