Lameness, pure lamness everyone. That mock up is like taking a big step backwards in gameplay....Dual Analog? A Screen on a traditional controller? Shouldn't this so called screen be on a new Wii-like Remote?
If they went to using Wii-motes people would cry about it.
I would hope that a regular CCPro-like controller and Wiimote-like controller came bundled with the system. I will NEVER use dual-analogue for FPS though. It's dated to me. I'd probably use it when my cousins and brother play on the same system but I'd probably get bored easily because pointer-control is more fun and engaging that dual-analogue. This is basically Nintendo pampering 3rd Parties and people who hate motion controls if they were to use this as the main controller. I'd still keep my Wiimotes and anything motion related. I like 'em.

The positives you mention can already be achieved via their portable device (see 3DS). I fail to understand why they’d hamper the design and functionally of their home console controller by adding a giant screen to it.
This "project cafe" stuff isn't believable in the slightest.
That's why I'm waiting for Nintendo to make an official announcement before going goo-googaga over it. It's a nifty concept and I could only expect Nintendo to make these concepts look silly with something official.
Seeing as how the next console is supposedly Wii-backwards compatible (which is probably true), it'd be much more simple to just wirelessly connect Wiimotes to the new console. This isn't the older days where we had to plug things in, you know
I keep wondering if there will still be motion control. While it's not right for every game, it is absolutely perfect for some genres.
I wonder too. Most games since the start of 2010 have been made for the Classic Controller. If no one wants to make motion controlled games why should Nintendo bring them back? And if Project Cafe is backwards compatible with Wii games, it will probably recognise Wiimotes so there's even less reason to have motion control built into this new touch screen controller.
what good would it do to potentially have to charge a fortune for a controller that merely allowed you to have less clutter on the main screen?
This IGN photo is just for fun. A six inch screen would be much bigger than that. It would most likely be bigger than the rest of the controller. It won't be like a Dreamcast VMU. they're saying it will play full games on it's own. I'd expect VC games could be played without a TV. That would breath new life into the Virtual Console.
Formally Square-enixFan, Neo-GeoFan. A lover of fine games and handheld systems!!!!!!!!!! The New 3DS XL is amazing, soon the NX will be upon us! Backloggery Check my Youtube channel out! http://www.youtube.com/user/Ha...
For the controller, I hope that it has two controllers, a dual-analogue type one and a Wii Remote style one.
For the Wii Remote style one, you know how the Wii Remote has 16 kilobytes of memory for Miis? It'd be awesome if the Project Café Wii Remote style controller had a larger amount of memory in it, like say 24 megabytes or something, and you could transfer memory from a game onto the controller and then bring the controller to your friend, who also has the game, and use your save file with their game or something.
Does not the talk about the Wii2 controller remind you on the original "Revolution Controller" ideas, that is, that the controller once was meant to have a touch screen?
Perhaps the name "Project Cafe" doesn't apply to a game console, but an actual Cafe. Just imagine, next year, Nintendo launches a chain of coffee shops all over the world! I'd like a Super Minccino with extra whipped cream, please.
I don't think it will be a traditional controller. I really don't see Nintendo throwing the "motion" stuff out of the window, they are quite proud about it! I think they will stick with the wiimote and improve it's technology. And they could ad the rumored screen, camera, etc.

they could just replace the d-pad on the wii remote with the circle pad of the 3DS and call it a next gen controler along with giving it the form factor of the playstation move without the glowing ball ontop
This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare
