Thanks for comments guys. I liked them both but Prime felt like it had much more exploration where Other M has much more of a nostalgia feel and a direct conversion from the 2D versions. I'm curious to think which they will continue with, cutscenes or scans? Both are very good and I'm torn between them.
And even though I haven't played Other M yet... it just doesn't seem quite as deep regarding the combat
ha, that sentence makes it all too clear that you haven't played it. metroid prime's combat was already a little clunky and slow and after other m it feels like there really isn't much combat in prime at all; just a little blasting here and there. prime's strength is atmosphere and exploration, which it does better than other m, but in no way does the action even come close.

other m gives you more varied ways of fighting and the speed and mobility are waaayyy higher. you can freely run around enemies and jump, even onto their heads if you want, and you have the ability to easily maneuver through them to get away or quickly find a better position when you need to.
prime in comparison basically had you standing in place, strafing and taking a few steps when needed, but otherwise just sitting and shooting until your enemy died. other m allows you to continue fighting that way if you choose, giving you prime's 1st person mode minus the strafing, but given how much more fluid the 3rd person fighting is you won't want to use it much. all around it has a much more expansive and more satisfying combat system.
i'm not saying prime is in any way a worse game, it's just that action isn't it's focus. samus moves and controls like a tank, but that's because she's built to look and explore rather than fight. the worlds and atmosphere are the core of the game and combat is a lower priority. other m's samus on the other hand is built for action, and in at least that one regard other m is the best metroid there's been... the trade off is that it makes little sacrifices everywhere else.
so if you want action i'd say other m is hands down the better game, but if you want exploration and atmosphere prime is hands down better.
Honestly, in other m, I just spammed the charge blast which made short work of enemies 99% of the time. (diffusion beam overpowered much?). I would've liked a deeper shooting system. As it was it was definitely fun, though.
I prefer Other M. I played Prime 1 and 3 for a time but eventually just kind of stopped playing. That's not to say the Primes aren't great games I've just never been big on first person shooters and Other M has just enough of it to offer the advantages it brings to the table while not grating on my nerves.
Prime, most definitely. Other M had potential to beat out Prime, but they made too many mistakes. Let's put it this way: Prime is in my top 5, and Other M is in my top 30. Big difference. P:

Other M. Gameplay and graphics are way better then MP. Although MP has pretty much everything else better(Environments,sounds, etc...). Gameplay is what matters though, it's what you'll be doing %80 of the time and the graphics are one of the best, if not the best for the wii. However, get Trilogy too. I mean, 3 games for one?! What a steal.
I think the Primes are more polished and overall probably better quality games, but there's something about Other M that stops me from preferring them outright.
Hunt down a copy of MPTrilogy and throw Other M in the garbage...
he'd have to buy a copy of other m first to do that...
