Topic: Phantasy Star or Breath of Fire 2?

So which one do you people like better? Why? Also is the gba PS Compilation one Just like this one?

Two very difference experiences. Phantasy Star is more of a classic RPG that harkens back to the computer rpgs of the 80's at times and crosses it with console rpg elements that were taking hold at the time. Breath of Fire 2 is a solid game and probably a more well-rounded experience from top to bottom. You're going to do a lot of grinding at the beginning of PS1, so prepare for it. Takes awhile to get the ball rolling. Breath of Fire 2 tosses you into the fire a bit faster. Both are great rpgs.

If I had to pick only one, I'd go with Breath of Fire 2.

Yes, the GBA Collection has ports of PS1, 2 and 3.

While it's true the games are very different types of RPGs, I honestly can't recommend BoF2 n any way. It's such a painfully dull, generic and boring experience boggled down in fetch quests, with a plot that takes an eternity to even get properly introduced. It might've had something going for it back in the day, being one of very few western-released RPGs on the market, but today it's not worth wasting any time on.

Phantasy Star, however, is an amazingly rewarding game with great focus on exploration and "intelligence-gathering", and is a joy to play. One of the best games of it's era.

So yeah, PS1 is by far the one you should go for. (also, it's cheaper - that's never a negative)

(and yeah, it's true you have to do a bit of grinding at the beginning of PS, but it doesn't take that long. BoF2 forces you to cross that same stupid mountain range like 5 times in a row at it's beginning, which is far more frustrating)

Breath of Fire has a more "metal" sounding title, but I've only played a little bit of it and found it to be pretty dull. There are better RPGs available for the VC, and PS1 is one of them. It's old, and slow, but I think the story is better, and the combat is more interesting as well. Plus you'll have a the rest of the series to look forward to... well, PS2 at least. Oh, and PS4 (best in the series).

Edit#2 The Crow- Actually, I already own SSB64, but hopefully it'll come out soon for you all who are waiting for it.

I guess if the GBA one is the same as the origionals, I could get IT. Unless I just want it on the big screen (of course, I could just get a gameboy player for my cube I suppose.) I Bought the GBA one awhile back, but I'm not sure how much I played the first game. Probably not far. Still got the box and book.

Ah yeah, be sure to keep the manual around for PS1 - you need to reference it every now and then to figure out the purpose of certain items.

Neither. Get Phantasy Star IV

I'd recommend Breath of Fire 2, as I find Phantasy Star 1 WAY too primitive.

Well, considering I haven't yet played the original Phantasy Star, I guess I have to say..............Breath of Fire 2. I don't think it's a bad game, just a bad sequel. In my opinion, that is.
