Topic: Other M, Rated M?

I was going to see what you think of the fact that Metroid: Other M could be rated M, if this is the case, I'll still get it, but I was seeing what you all thought about this!

I could see the validity in this theory considering the team working on it and taking in account their past works, but I highly doubt Nintendo would ever let that happen with one of their core characters. Teen is as high as it goes for them. On top of that, I give Sega props for their great M rated games or at least taking a chance on them but they're not making any money off of them. Nintendo knows they'll be sacrificing a lot of sales with an M rating. Would it sell a million? Probably...it's Metroid...but they would lose out on even more by going M. I just don't see it happening.

I don't know why it would be, to be honest. Metroid doesn't have any human-on-human violence, there's green goop (or something similar) instead of any blood, and somehow I doubt Samus will be graphically knocking-boots with anyone during the course of the game. (Profanity, of course, is another way to earn an M, but with such a small amount of dialogue in the series, and Nintendo's aversion to it in the first place, I don't see that happening.)

We'll see, but I think Metroid would have to make a heck of a leap forward in terms of graphic violence to even warrant consideration of an M rating.

I dunno. Metroid 3 was given an M rating by the Australian government, and seeing from the E3 vid, i doubt it will be a PG game.

Chicken made some great points and I didn't think about the human-on-human factor. Definitely going T, I'm sure, but no M. Unless they make a giant leep story wise and Samus falls in love with another bounty hunter and we get sweet sweet graphic alien love.

They don't kiss, they just rub power suits. Headbutting each other.

Dont forget the OFLC works diffently to the ESRB.
Besides an OFLC M rating be like an ESRB T rating.
OFLC's MA rating is more like what we talking here to be like an ESRB M rating.

Haha...it would be the most uncoordinated session ever to make it into games. It would just sound like a washer and dryer smacking one another....or a kid smacking pots in the kitchen.

There will be lots of alien goo, but I doubt there will be much blood. T seems fine, if they make it an M they'd only lose out on sales. Saying that, a powersuit sandwich sounds awesome!

I second most of the thoughts in here that there's simple no way Nintendo would allow it a M rating, at least not in North America.

I've got nothing against an M rating personally, but the limiting that M does to a franchise is severe. Not to mention, don't see what could be added to a Metroid game that would make it worth the handicap that an M rating can bring.

Team Ninja also made Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball, so Samus might be sexy enough in Metroid:Other M for it to have a M rating.

Objection

I doubt it'll be an "M" game, but seeing as I can get whatever game I want now, I don't really care, so long as the game is good, it can be E, T, or M. (EC and E10 are stupid ratings )

If Nintendo releases an M game, I'll be really upset.

It won't be an M rating, but I'm hoping Nintendo lets Team Ninja put in just a sliiiight boob jiggle if we see Samus in her Zero Suit.
