Topic: NPC Pikmin Frustration

i recently started playing bthe wii version of pikmin 1 and it's making me kind of angry. what is a good way to attack something? just throw pikmin at it? i end up losing like 50 pikmin against the big sleeping thing, idk what it's called but there's onr on the brawl stage. also, is there a way to keep red and yellow pikmin from stupidly running in the water?

Having a big team of flowered Pikmin should do it. IDK the status of your pikmin but flowered Pikmin are much stronger than leaf Pikmin. Also, it might be a good idea to just go in with a squad of like 10 flower Pikmin. Throw them quickly and then withdraw before it bites down to eat. Or just do what I do, avoid the thing all together! If the problem is that your Pikmin are bringing a ship part back to the ship and the beast is in the way, just charge the enemy with Olimar. As long as you are the closer target, it will go after you instead of the group of Pikmin carrying the ship part. Just make sure you don't let Olimar get bit! Hope I helped

Forgot that part When an enemy shakes Pikmin off its ALWAYS a good idea to call them back as it will likely attack.

aren't reds stronger? and what ways can i get flowers other than the nectar stuff and leaving them planted? and what's a good ratio for the colors of pikmin in a big squad?

They are, but a flowered yellow would be stronger than a leaf red. If you need pikmin straight away, it's not good to leave them planted as you waste time, but when you send bodies/pellets back they might sprout to bud/flower by the time your done with the day. There are also some enemies that hit your pikmin into the ground, and the go straight to flower.

For the ratio, it depends on what your doing during the day. Which can be hard when your playing it on your first time. Though a good team would be 1/2 red to 1/4 yellow and /14 blue.

what level is good for pikmin farming?

If you go to Impact Site on an even numbered day, then you can get pearls, 20 pellets and lots of smaller pellets. You also get the monster that makes your Pikmin go flowered.

Don't spend too much time farming though, later days you may need a few to get the last pieces, plus over time you'll get more numbers.

what do pearls do? and what's down on the d-pad do exactly?

I'm not sure what down does, as I haven't played the NPC version of Pikmin.

Pearls are worth 50 pikmin when fed to the onions. But you need blue pikmin to get them. Also you get the other rocket part there.

down makes a short series of arrows come off of olimar towards the pointer. idk what it's for though

Down on the d pad makes a line go from olimar to the cursor. It will force Pikmin with Olimar to line up straight behind him for walking over narrow bridges or passages.

Yep! That's just what its for. It can be very frustrating when a little half-wit strays to far from the group and starts drowning as a result...

Good to hear you're really trying to give it a chance! It really is an absolutely fatastic series. Although, even if the first one does end up frustrating you into quitting, I urge you to track down a copy of the sequel for GC. It improves in every conceivable way on the first game. I'll never forgive Nintendo for not giving us in NA the NPC version of Pikmin 2
