It has to be taken on a game-by-game basis; there are WAY too many factors involved in the potential release of licenced VC games to make a broad statement like "this means more will come." Unless it sells really well, in which case I can see people deciding it may be worth the bother after all.

I do really hope Disney does jump on board the VC train leading up to Epic Mickey. That kind of marketing push makes perfect sense, after all! But companies seem to be not very good at doing what makes perfect sense, so we'll just have to wait and see.

I hope Disney strike a deal with Capcom, I'm dying for Duck Tales to come out!

Also, why does everybody spell Michael as Micheal? My father has a heart attack every time he sees it, it's also my middle name, lol

I'd also say this doesn't have any relevance to any other license games, since I'm guessing the license owner was Michael Jackson's estate. His relatives have been milking his death/trying to scrape up any money together to pay off his debts. I would say the reason this game is out is due to a licensee specific situation, not because VC has proven itself a worthwhile enough venture for other licensees to make the effort. Michael's family estate also doesn't really have much to do aside from release all of his old stuff again. It's not a company like Disney that is busy with newer ventures.

I would say the LucasArts games are a better sign that more 3rd parties may be getting on board. However, unlike with LucasArts, with Disney any money from a VC release would have to be split 3 ways - Disney, Capcom (I don't know what, if any, other 3rd party developers they used), and Nintendo as opposed to just LucasArts and Nintendo. Given the Mouse's notorious greed, I'd imagine that makes it much less likely we'll see an agreement where everybody is satisfied. It SHOULD be possible, seeing as Disney wouldn't have to do ANY work. Capcom and Ninty would be the ones dumping the rom and then hosting it on their server, but I sort of doubt that any of them will be willing to work on this even though every dollar made would be pretty much pure profit, and a little pure profit is better than none at all.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

I'll bet Michael Jackson's Moonwalker is gonna be a good time.
And, I know it was recently reviewed last month by the Corbster, but I thought Porky Pig's Haunted Holiday was a good licensed title. I wonder if Acclaim (or rather, Sunsoft) still makes video games.

Its like Steven and Stephen I guess. Some people spell it one way, the others the other. My uncle was given the 'ea' spelling of the name by his parents.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Maybe, but we'll have to start killing the correct celebrities.

Pierce Brosnan ain't doing anything these days anyway, so let's start there.

Pierce Brosnan was the James Bond from Goldeneye.
I heard people say Brosnan was the worst of the Bonds. Is that true, or is it just a rumor?

i do not think that having Moonwalker available reflects in any way on whether or not we'll get more licensed games down the line -- probably the only reason they've even considered releasing that game on the VC is because the family/estateholders/whomever is/are trying to pay off his outstanding debts any way they can.

@Bass X0: That's the first time I've ever heard of Micheal NOT being a spelling error. How odd.

I don't think Moonwalker will help Disney games being released for sure. Micheal Jackson actually is worth more in death than alive in terms potential money value. The Jackson Family is taking advantage of that plus they need to pay off Micheal's debt.

I know most of the Disney video game releases on vc systems are from Capcom and Sega. The exceptions are Donald Goin' Quackers by Ubisoft, Mickey Mania by Sony, and Mickey's Ultimate Challenge by Hi-Tech Express.

I don't think Disney is despite for money for them to allow Disney games being release on the vc.

It wouldn't make any sense for Disney to build a theme Park in China for 4 billion dollars if they are hurting for money. Disney also is busy spending a lot of money on Walt Disney World and Walt Disney Land for refurbishing and adding new attractions. Disney also bought Marvel. All those transactions Disney is doing proves that they are not hurting for cash.

@7th lutz: Don't forget Genesis Aladdin and Lion King, which were from Virgin!

While Disney is clearly not hurting for money, it IS a greedy company nowadays. It wouldn't surprise me if they DID work things out as a marketing gimmick for Epic Mickey. It's free publicity, plus a bit of cash coming in! What's not to like?

@Stuffgamer1: Exactly. Disney being a greedy company is a huge roadblock for it's release. They can't just port an emulator over to the Virtual Console you know? They have to clean it up.

Also, I don't see Disney licensed games coming before Epic Mickey release. It's slightly possible afterward, but only if it's a blockbuster, selling over a million copy of the game.

Now don't get me wrong, I will always hold out hope that my wanted games will come out, unless they are from Japan and is a licensed game. However, getting Disney games on the Virtual Console is very unlikely if not next to impossible.

Now Earthbound, that's a different issue altogether. Sure it has legal issues, but we're still likely to see the game. And people, pretend Earthbound doesn't exist while you're in this thread.

Why do you want us to adhere to a rule you just broke yourself? That doesn't make any sense at all. I can't argue whether Earthbound or Disney games would be more likely to release. At least Disney games have real, proven licence issues to work out, whereas Earthbound has only alleged paranoia. But one would require multiple third-party developers working together, while the other is just a Nintendo first party title. Complicated...

(Expects arguements between people who think the [Game That Shall Not Be Named] will be on the Virtual Console or people who say it's impossible. What fun! Not really, it's going to flush the thread away.)

Voldemort on VC...yay or nay?

No...I don't want to derail the thread. But YOU mentioned it first, y'know.

@SSBF: Leave the moderating to us, will you? You keep asking people to stay on topic even though they're doing just fine on their own, and also, you did mention Earthbound first, after all. No fair expecting people to adhere to rules you aren't willing to adhere to on your own. :3
