I was happy to see Rygar and solomons key out....until I looked it up and sure enough they were on compilation. I wish these companies would put out some game that are not on compilation. There has to be some out there, right? This is the same problem that I have with Neo Geo and the Sega Genesis too.
I know exactly what you mean. I'm just like "how about you sell me something I DON'T already own at a much better value, huh?" Of course, there are some people who don't have access to these collections (as most of them are on other systems), but I can't help but feel like a week is wasted on a game I already have on a collection (like recently happened with Phantasy Star).
But I think we can all agree that there are certain rare games you never see available ANYWHERE that we want on VC. Personally, I want a chance to try Pac-Land (why the HECK isn't that on any of the bazillion Namco collections?) and that one Arcade-only Golden Axe (whatever it was called).

Amazing, I always assumed that was simply Golden Axe II since it was the arcade sequel, but you're absolutely correct!
Pac Land was on one of the original Namco Museum collections for Playstation; Namco just doesn't seem to be in the habit of re-releasing all of their arcade assets in subsequent collections, though the Japanese VCA is getting the royal treatment with Namco games that have never seen home release coming out on it -- reason to import a Japanese Wii right there!

wait, do you mean to say that if you import a Japanese wii you can access the Japanese wii shop channel?
@Sean Aaron: That one game is on the rare-ish side, though not as bad as I thought (cheapest listing on Amazon is currently $26.21). Still, that's way too much for just the one game I'm curious about. Super Pac-Man has been on several collections since that one, but Pac-Land is nowhere to be seen. LAAAAMMMMEEEE!
@DjPhatskillz: That's precisely what he means, and he should know. After all, he HAS a Japanese Wii!

Well, there's a 30th anniversary Pac-Man game of some kind coming next year so I'd bet money on Pac Land seeing the light of day in some form along with the rest of the Pac-Man games (if Namco has any sense, that is!).
Yeah, the 20th anniversary was a bit of a bust as I recall; hopefully they'll finally pull out all the stops for the 30th. I'd love to see Pac-Man Plus get an outing and old hacks like the Popeye hack (I actually played this in my local arcade in Chicago -- it's pretty weird; sadly I had no luck finding screenshots, but you can play it via Pac-Mame), but I'll be satisfied if we get Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Jr. Pac-Man and Pac Land.
That's all you want? Man, you think small. Granted, many Pac-Man titles are available all over the place, but to do a proper Pac-Man collection, they'd need to include Super Pac-Man, Pac-Mania, Pac Attack, Ms. Pac Attack, Ms. Pac-Man After Dark, and Ultra Pac-Man (DAMN, there were a lot of versions! Source for those on this list I'd never heard of before a quick Google search here). And with modern storage options, why not throw in Arrangement, Championship Edition, and maybe even Pac In Time or Pac-Man 2? Make it a REAL celebration of the series!

I cannot say I've heard of these: Ms. Pac Attack, Ms. Pac-Man After Dark, and Ultra Pac-Man
but I've got Super Pac-Man and Pac-Mania on Namco Museum Remix, so I'm cool there and my focus is on games I played in the arcade, so I'm not as fussed about the console-based stuff. I sure hope whatever they end up with isn't just Pac-Man World 4 or something (or at least if it is, pull out all the stops and make it the Super Mario Galaxy of Pac-Man games!).
My brother and I saw Ms. Pac-Man After Dark in a little bowling alley arcade a few years ago, right next to Neo Mr. Do (which I totally didn't realize was a Neo Geo until just now...cool!). Anyway, I was listing off what would make a perfect Pac-Man collection, regardless of it having appeared elsewhere. I could play Pac-Man Jr. on the Genesis version of Pac-Man 2 if I wanted to, but I'd rather not go to the trouble (weird how it was Jr. in that version and Ms. on the SNES).
