Hardcore is ridiculous, i'm a gamer and that's it. sometimes i play marioparty and sometimes i shoot zombies in the head. I am not a gaming-nazi and i hate the word hardcore. If you want hardcore try working as firefighter or a swatofficer or a fisherman. You twink. A kid could never finish king's story it's hard as shit sometimes. I HATE HARDCORE. Go play fps xbox now bye.
Im saying im just sick of all these damn puzzle games that everyone is pumping out for the wii my opinion is that 3rd party developers are treating the wii like a toy to make a quick buck when its a game consol. and wen i say hardcore i mean a game were your better than sombody its because u put down the extra effort like mario kart 64 anybody could play that but the people in first are the people who mastered drifting unlike the new mario kart wii were u dont win by skill but because the computer carried you the whole race (dont get me wrong i liked mario kart wii but come on its a let down to previous installments) i owend like 30 gc games cus even tho it was a bad system it had more hardcore games i own 5 WII GAMES! madworld, ssbb, no more heroes, mario galaxy, metroid prime 3 and i preordered the conduit. lets face it the wii was made for fps's and weve seen like 4 games using it the only good one was metroid. im a hardcore nintendo fan till i die and id rather give up gameing then switch consoles. too close when i say hardcore i mean a game thats greatly desined ground breaking and thats trying something new (PUZZLES DONT COUNT I DONT CARE WHAT YOU SAY! LOL).
I hate to point this out, but we all know what someone means by hardcore. We may not agree with the definition, but we have the intelligence to understand the message. Call it what you will, but it really doesn't merit such fierce debate all the time - it's just a word!
Just thought I'd interject that before a massive debate ensues about why games are not 'hardcore'.

Lol, you got a point there... What I was meant to say is that there's a correct and incorrect definition to the words "Casual" and "Hardcore". I shouldn't have said that I hate labeling games "Hardcore/casual", I should've said that I hate it when people who don't even have a clue what they're talking about Label game "Casual/Hardcore".
The truth is you can have awesome Casual games, look at Tetris for example, that was the ultimate killer app for portable game, and between 1989 to 1992, it was released with every GameBoy that was sold, making the GB the leader of the Portable consoles. Same can be said to Wii Sports, sure maybe not that many "18 to 30" years olds will like it, but Kids, Parents and Grandparents are digging it, and that's why it sells.
To me, a game like Super Mario Bros might as well be called hardcore because of its wellplanned and demanding leveldesign,
I wouldn't call Super Mario Bros "Hardcore", mainly because it brought so many people back into gaming when the video game crash happend in the early 80s, if you want a "Hardcore" Mario game, Super Mario Bros 2 (Japan) is your game. But IMO Super Mario Bros 1 is a casual game because Nintendo required a game that many people could play, Super Mario Bros 2 (Japan) was made so that people who became better at SMB1 had a greater challenge.

Yeah, that's why I slapped "(Japan)" at the end of the name because I hate calling it "Lost Levels". But hey, if you want some Hardcore Mario, download Super Mario Bros 2 Japan from the Wii Shop channel for 600 points. Totaly worth it, plus it runs in 60Hz mode too, something that they didn't give you on Madworld

Bioshock didn't use Multiplayer, yet it scored Game of the Year in 2007, so what's your point? Not all FPS games NEED Multiplayer, it would be like Metroid, Metroid Prime 2 had it, but it was daft because everyone played as a different Coloured Samus, and Prime Hunters was just bad because the level design was exploited to the point where you'd never win.
Like I said, Some games are great with it, some don't!

That would depend on the game though... We don't know what the plot is, so why even say that? If the plot doesn't fit it, then it doesn't work, if it does, then yeah why not? Still it's too early to tell yet.

Wait wait, hold the phone... Red Steel 2 is confirmed not to have multi-player? I didn't even think they'd discussed it publicly yet. If Conduit is only online, and RS2 isn't multi-player at all, that will be very sad. Both look too good not to have such a basic feature.

Nintendo hasn't released any puzzle games, except Dr. Mario on WiiWare. You seem to be complaining about third parties, when your topic title is complaining about Nintendo. Like I said earlier, Nintendo has no control over what third parties release. Nintendo made one incredible FPS, one incredible platformer, and one incredible fighter. By your definition of "hardcore", Excitebots can be considered "hardcore", so add one incredible racer to the list. Nintendo's influencing third parties to make great games by showing how its done. Granted, Nintendo's not perfect in all regards, but you can't blame them for the amount of third party shovelware on the Wii.
Again, like I said earlier, expect more first party games after the release of Wii Motion Plus.
Anyways, going back to the topic, I think HARDCORE needs some suggestions on other Wii games he needs to pick up, this is what I suggest...

Mario Kart Wii Trauma Center: Second Opiniom and New Blood Deadly Creatures House of the Dead Overkill Wario Land Shake It Excite Truck Zack and Wiki (yes it looks like a Kid's game but it's awesome! Especially if you've played like Monkey Island as a kid) Boom Blox (Best Casual game on the Wii so far, and a sequel is coming out later this year with online play!) Mario Strikers Smash Football Diaster Day of Crisis De Blob (Again, looks like a Kid's game, but it's really, REALLY good! Worth picking up!)
Virtual Console
