Leave it to Yoichi Wada—president of final fantasizer Square Enix, the biggest Japanese game house—to break the news about the next generation Nintendo Wii. All while predicting that Microsoft and Sony motion efforts won't be "truly successful."
Wada says that the next-generation, high definition Wii will offer the same capabilities as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, while adding a brand new motion controller. We will have to wait till 2011 to see it, like previous rumors pointed out.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
It's a shame i can't justify getting 2 wii's. Just like i can't buy a dsi when i just bought the ds lite. I can't help but to be pissed about this, but im glad Nintendo decides to get with the program. Just too late.

I doubt they will release a wii HD to be honest, I think the next console will be HD but I just can't see Nintendo releasing another version of the wii like they did with DS, you can never really tell with Nintendo but I just never bought those wii HD rumors.
Something tells me they're not taking pre-orders for this one at Game Stop. I honestly can't wait to see what The Big N comes up with for their next console.
(watch your language! - Admin) Nintendo has never made a "sequel" console. The SNES doesn't count because Nintendo didn't know what to name it other than "Super" and that "Super" was basically the popular thing to do if you were going to make a sequel to something. But bottom line, Nintendo is NOT making a Wii 2. They may make a console with an interactive control scheme, but Nintendo would never rehash

We're calling it a "sequel" console because we don't know anything about it yet. It'll probably be to the Wii what the Wii is to the Gamecube. But with HD graphics. And backwards compatibility.
I can't imagine what Nintendo could do for a new controller. Some improvement on the remote perhaps?
I can think one thing for sure: the Wii's successor will be a HD-console. Miyamote said that the Wii had no HD because not enough people had a HD TV. And Nintendo only releases a new console if they've done everything that was possible with the Wii, or if they have a superidea which is impracticable by using the current console. So in the end Yoichi Wada knows nothing about a new Nintendo console, he can only guess. Only the big N knows....
I highly doubt that the Wii's sucessor will be announced for at least around five years. The Wii is so popular that I doubt Nintendo is not even considering making a new console or a HD version of the Wii right now.
Isn't he just speculating that this console will be released? In fact I'm sure he is and I would bet that he's wrong. It just wouldn't be prudent of Nintendo to do that so soon. The Wii still has plenty of miles left in it.
Future Wii purchases: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Metroid: Other M Zelda Wii New Super Mario Bros. Wii Sin and Punishment 2

Nintendo have made sequel consoles. The Gameboy Advance and the DSi are two examples. Besides the first time Nintendo really changed its console naming method was with the GameCube - before that they all used to be just called "Nintendo" with either the "Super" or "64" added to point out it's more powerful than the last.
The Wii is such a success I seriously doubt they'd risk such a popular brand name now by changing the name to something else. That'd be like Coca Cola rebranding as Super Fizzy Pop. I doubt they'd go with "Wii 2" but "Wii HD" or "Wii Future" are quite likely (well maybe not the last one as much).

Five years after the original release date right? Nintendo has been known to go from one console to the next every five years 1991 SNES to 1996's N64 to 2001's Gamecube to 2006's Wii to 2011's Wii 2. Nintendo is always one step ahead of what we think they are.
