Why would you have a Gamecube and a Wii? Not to mention a PS1 and a PS2. I'd sell the redundant systems in order to fix the more recent one.
I still have my Gamecube because it is the awesome Platinum one, it's super easy to take on trips (so is the Wii, but still), and if I sold it I'd only get $20. So, it stays and I can play Gamecube games in more than one room without having to move the Wii to a different room.

Similar problem happen to me back in January of 08, I was about to fight Bowser in Mario Galaxy when it stop reading my disc during the Cutscene going to the final level. Some was scratching my discs, So I had to send My Wii (and several games to be replace with non-scratched up ones) to get fixed, got it back the next month though.
this is a simple problem to fix just bu the wii laser disk cleaner made by nintendo you can buy it on nintendo.com becuse i rarely see it in stores
This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare
Well in my case, it wasn't the lens...it was the actual driver that died out. So that wouldn't help me much...but then again you probably weren't talking to me anyways, lol.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
I had the exact same thing happen to me.. the damned disc tray just stopped reading everything... Luckily enough, I live a short drive from NOA headquarters. The whole affair took me 3 days to get it all swapped out for free under warranty. Even got a new year warranty out of it, so I'm kinda glad it broke less than a month before the warranty expired!
@gameking23. I kept getting an error message saying Wii couldnt read disks a while back, so I checked manual and the advice it gave was...unplug the power cable from back of machine for at least 5 minutes then try again! I thought they were taking the piss! But apparently this causes some kind of 'hard' system restore. Anyway, I did and it worked. Just a thought, might be worth a try if you haven't already...
But if you sold it and maybe your PS1 to pay for your repairs, you could play all your games.
But the GC is mine! I won't part with it!
Can't blame you for keeping the Gamecube, but it's only really worth it if you have a Gameboy Player, if you use cheat discs, or if you use Homebrew. In other words, it's only beneficial to keep if you have a Gameboy Player. But I guess it's a good job you kept it whether you have one or not, since you can still play Gamecube games if your Wii breaks, like what happened to Gameking.
I have the Gameboy Player, which comes in handy considering I sold my Gameboy. Plus, the GC is easy to take places so you can play with your friends from all over.

I'm confused...who's iSonic exactly? I don't remember seeing him around before, but it sounds like he lives with gameking23. Relatives or roomies? Sorry that I'm nosy, by the way.
We're relatives. I play on his wii all the time, or at least use to until it stopped working. Just as I was about to rent Punch Out!! ugh.

Thanks for the advice. I tried it and unfortunately it did not work for my Wii.
Well my Wiis drive had played up where it couldn't read most disc's Twilight Princess had to try several times & that's if in lucky & the only disc that works was the Gameboy player startup disc. Well at least it was during warranty so I only had to pay the posting.
Weird fault for which I really like to know the excat fault other than "defective drive unit". I wish they could explain further at least it I got it back 6 days after I sent it for repears.
i did not have to pay for the posting mine did the same thing but only did it on SSBB! every time you send your wii in they extend the warranty a year!
Mines sick as well. It takes me 5-15 times reloading disks in to finally get the Wii to register them. Unable to read disk errors are a very common thing around here. I'm also getting where when I turn the darn thing on, it won't go to the channel screen anymore. It just remains black. Fickle little machine.

Nintendo got mad when my disc drive broke, I reported it... and then took a week to drive it out to them becuase the HD still worked for all my VC/WW... which was 99% of what I play.
@greyelephant My GF was watching me fight Popinski yesterday on TD Mode... and she was like "are those bottles being pulled from his ass!?" Lol.

Got mad? You mean got mad at you or mad that the thing broke? Yes, the whole bottle thing makes me crack up. Everytime he goes down the reaches behind himself and pulls it out. I'm thinking how in the world is he hiding this big ole' plastic bottle in his tights and nobody seems to notice. LOL! Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.

Wow, I can't imagine why that happened. I feel for you, man. My clutz of a brother almost broke mine twice! First, once I was letting him play his Spongebob game on it, cause it was really scratched and his GameCube wouldn't read it and he stepped on the cord on the GameCube stick and knocked the Wii off the entertainment center in the living room. Then, I was playing Ocarina of Time/Master Quest and once again, HE STEPS ON THE CORD and knocks it in to the side of my entertainment center. I swear, that boy is a bigger clutz than me! And, trust me, that's BAD! XD

Two people related to eachother posting on the same forum together? That's awesome!
My brother reads this site sometimes, but I don't think he's ever bothered to join and post. If he did, you'd see Lombax42 on here somewhere. I'm definitely the one of the two of us more likely to use the computer a LOT, though. He's smart and actually spends his free time...PLAYING VIDEO GAMES!
Seriously, I love it on this site, but I don't game anywhere NEAR as much as I used to due to the time spent here now.
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P
