Topic: Music instruments - Rock Band 3, Guitar Hero, etc.

I got a Wii not that long ago and would really like to get one of the games that uses musical instruments. I've been looking at Rock Band 3, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock (Band Bundle), and Band Hero. I can't figure out what to get.

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock (Band Bundle) is the only one that comes with instruments, but the songs on the game don't interest me as much as Band Hero and Rock Band 3. Also, the design of the guitar in Guitar Hero looks like it sucks. The Rock Band 3 instruments seem to be sold separately for around $120 each, which I refuse to pay. For that much I can buy a real electric guitar. Am I missing something, why can't I find instruments in stores or on their websites?

Probably because they have been sold to death. There are 9 guitar hero based games and 6 rock band based games. Most people already have a guitar so there is less of an incentive to sell them separately or bundled. I have 2 mic, 3 guitars and 1 drum set alone and 7 compatible games for them.

The cheapest way to go is to first choose a series because Rock band and Guitar hero have over lapping set list. You can also choose by feature like rock band 3 with a keyboard etc vs Guitar hero DS Support. then find an older game from that franchise that is bundled because the older ones get price dropped. that get you your instrument. Also any game outside of gh3/aerosmith/rock band 1 are compatible with each other instruments. Like using gh3 guitar in Beatles Rock Band.

Also Gamestop.com seems to have the GH:wor with the guitar for $69 or you can try to looks for a used game.

Get Band Hero. I just bought it a week ago, and its instruments are sturdier than GH instruments, and compatible with pretty much every game in both franchises. It's also pretty easy to find bundled with all the instruments, unlike the others you mentioned.

you might want to try eBay or craigslist to find the instruments for cheaper.

The music rhythm games are in a pretty bad decline right now. Viacom is selling Harmonix and Activision has laid off a lot of people who work on Guitar Hero/Band Hero. This is probably why you're having trouble finding any bundles for the game. Not much to say but keep a sharp eye out for any store that's having a sale on RB/GH stuff to clear out space.

I went out to the stores Monday and I couldn't find any musical instruments for Wii. There were plenty for PS3 and Xbox. I see that Target has GH:WOR band bundle on their website for $180. I guess I'll have to get that. I really don't see any other choice if I want both the guitar and the drums. I don't like the music on GH, but I can use the instruments with Band Hero and Rock Band 3 software, right?

Yes you can. Guitar Hero guitars are compatible with Rock Band 2 and up. You might also want to looking into the Rock Band 3 Pro Guitar because rock band can teach you how to play a real guitar. the only down side is the price.

For software, I'd get Rock Band 3. Not only does it have a setlist and DLC support that's miles ahead of any Guitar Hero game, but it also supports a fifth instrument, keyboard. Wouldn't it just make more sense to get a real guitar and learn it proper?
