For me this just seems like a very time-consuming game. With limited time, I tend to play games where I can have fun for 20-30 minutes and then quit with all my progress saved. On weeknights, the spurts are closer to 10-15 minutes, and often involve Bejeweled Blitz or Tetris Friends on Facebook...so no, I don't think MH3 is for me. SMG2, on the other hand, should be perfect. So should D.I.Y. Now if I can just find a way to afford them with no money...
Moco Loco If you find yourself spiritually drifting (as I was for far too many years), remember that Jesus can and will walk across the water to reach you and bring you back to shore.
It takes a lot of getting used to. As in, hours and hours and hours ~and hours and hours. Camera control gets easier – and is far better on Wii than on PSP – but the lack of Z-targeting or lock-on is absolutely necessary: each body part has individual resistances and health, so you can actually chop off tails, horns, beaks and more by attacking the right part consistently. If there were a lock-on for that part, it'd be a little too easy I think!
Playing solo can be decent fun but the real joy is multiplayer. Learning the game with a few friends is awesome, and I'm sure there will be plenty of experienced hunters - myself included! - willing to share their expertise over Wii Speak.
One note about the co-op: the local two-player option is only an arena deathmatch-style mode, I was told by Nintendo. That said, a few people have said now that it's proper co-op, but as there's been no official announcement of this feature I'd still expect it to be deathmatch. Hopefully my copy will arrive in a few weeks and I'll see about doing some tutorials, either in text or (possibly) audio format!
From what I've seen the game looks amazing, even though it is a Wii game. And it's nothing like a Pokémon clone like that stupid Digimon franchise was.
Heck, Pokémon may be the greatest and mosr famous monster battling RPG, it wasn't the first one actually. That was Shin Megami Tensei. Just a random useless fact...
I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with the topic heading. I've played the demo for about an hour and can't for the life of me figure out why this game is such a big deal. The combat is slow and clunky--inexcusable for a title that prides itself on hunting--and quite frankly just isn't a whole lot of fun.

Kinda depends on your taste. I think its a great game overall, combat can be strategic and real or slow in your opinion. Just to ask how is it clunky? Also its a port of the Japanese demon that came out a year ago, some things may have been improved on the finalized version, I can't wait personally, if I really like it, it may be just enough to convince me to buy a PSP for these games.
