Ahh that Gobul is tough! I'm no good fighting underwater. I died and my time limit was almost up too! Does anyone have some tips? I also forgot to use the commanders dagger so that may have something to do with it Prosody
bring sonic bombs, barrel bombs big and small, and if their +bombs all the better, and traps and bring the pain - i also found out you can lay small barrel bombs underwater-strange- but makes the gobul writh in agony and you get a good few hits in on him easily- the overgrown flat fish soon understands who's boss when you use them
As for the commodities, I'm all over normal trade, it's Rare-Trade I'm struggling with. I'll be patient, kill more large monsters, and keep looking for sparkly areas. But again, thanks!!
I find that capturing monsters often yields some sort of rare commodity - ever since I've gotten confident in capturing monsters, I always manage to get at least one commodity. That is, once you've returned from your quest/excursion and spoken to junior (if you were hunting on D.Island.).
Capturing a Great Jaggi for example will get you a 1 star [can't remember] skull for example, and the harder the wyvern, the better the commodity. So far the highest level commodity I've gotten is 3 stars.
Thanks Edhe. It's funny actually, I posted my question then moments after picked up 2 x 2* Commodities whilst fighting Laggy and R.Ludroth at the same time. I killed them both, got the commodities and returned home happy.
Tail hunts can be tricky, especially when they're short like Barroth's. All I can suggest is that you focus everything on its tail and forget about the 10 tonne beast attached to it. I use shock traps to keep 'em still then you can run round the back and get hacking. Make sure your blade is at its sharpest and you have some attack bonus (from demon-drug or Felyne) before doing so. Good luck!

Don't forget frogs, lol.

I beat the Gigginox online and offline and just like HolyMackeral said he was very easy once you learn his moves. But the Ratholos(or however you spell his name), was very... different. Not hard but different.

@dean MHFU is an expanded version of Monster Hunter Freedom. Of course it's going to have more content than a brand new game, since they added more to the original. Not to mention there were apparently a lot of colour cycled monsters? I didn't play it, but at least it doesn't seem people were mad about the recolours. Hopefully there's a Monster Hunter Tri Unite someday, or something. Also welcome to NL!
Played with some major noobs who were above HR 40 yesterday. They died twice, THE MAN dropped out of the game, and then It took like 45 minutes to get Diablos to a weakened state, and then I died while carving its tail. They were using a hammer and a lance too, I can't believe it took that long. I checked out their equipment after they left and they were totally underpowered. As a gunner I can't do as much damage as a blademaster, so all I could do was chip away it Diablos' defenses over time. Yeah, HR doesn't mean anything when it comes to skill and understanding of the game. :/
I shall be playing with you guys tomorrow FINALLY!
I would give the single player game about 5 to 10 hours if you've never played a monster hunter before. It will get you good experence with the controll and feel for the game. Not to mention nice armour and weapon upgrade. You might want to start off with one of the blade weapons though as the bowgun is weaker then the others not to mention that it has a higher learning curve but whatever you choose just have fun and dont forget JarArr's motto. Hit it until it dies! Don't get hit!
Also i need a jumbo pearl and cant remember where i got it from. Can anyone help with this. Need sword upgrade.
@ Tech101 - I am almost positve you can get Jumbo Pearls from the stones at the bottom of the sea in areas 10 -11 of deserted Island. If you are off-line you can send out the fishing boats for treasure and they bring some back usually as well.
So stoked it's almost the weekend and I can sink myself into the game for more than few hours.
JayArr@ Thanks! I thought so just hav'nt found any yet. Ill keep trying. Just beat lagi off line. Got the claws i needed. Need luminous organ for sword upgrade. So ill be off line for a while till i get one.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
Just a heads up, not sure if you know, but you cant get a Luminous Organ until the last Urgent Quest. So you have to beat nearly all the 5 Star Quest and do some Resource request.
@JayArr Thanks again. Just got to 5th rank. Just keep my fingers crossed that it does not take to long to get. Is it a rare drop or given at the end of the urgent?

Aight, I just pulled a FIVE HOUR Marathon in Tri to get myself started with the game. Got the camp back together and Ran the first quest all while upgrading all my armor and sword. I still havent figured out how to go online yet, Im guessing I got more questing to do?
What do I do with all the freaking item Im getting after Quest, Hunts as Most I have no idea what to do with them. I know a good bit are used for Potions, Antidonte and Armor/Weapon Upgrades. But some are Really Valuable, and my tendency is to sell, but Im guessing that would be a major screw up?
So far, Im really impressed with the game. The difficulty isnt as high as I first expected, but I know it ramps up a good bit and Im looking forward to it. I have no intentention of using a Gun in the game. Swords and eventually Axes just feel so fitting for this game to me. Im going to start back up in the morning and maybe catch some of you online this weekend.

slapshot82@ Unless your hurting for cash dont sell anything until your sure you wont need it. I thought some of the items were useless at first and found there value later in the game.
Online is easy as long as you have wifi set up. Instead of selecting the village go to the city thats the online game.

Yeeeeaaaaah, I threw away all the Stones I found before...thought they were useless throwing objects. Now, I know I need them to make Tranq Bombs. XD

@Tech.... Aight, thanx. I did quit selling stuff, well with exception to Well Cooked meat as its sells high and easy to acquire, but now that my inventory is getting deeper Im able to start combining some really cool stuff, so I did indeed quit selling stuff. I also figured out this morning when booting up the game that the online is now active. Kinda makes sense they pulled it the way they did, as to keep complete noobs like myself offline at first lol. But it doesnt ever prompt you if you want to go online unless you backed out of the game and started back up again. No big deal, but Im still going to run a few more quest before jumping online, and I still need to try to track down a Wii Speak.

I did all the 1* quests before going online. That'll give you a good enough grounding to start getting online and not being a total liability to teammates.
