Ahh that Gobul is tough! I'm no good fighting underwater. I died and my time limit was almost up too! Does anyone have some tips? I also forgot to use the commanders dagger so that may have something to do with it Prosody
Hmm. I`d recommend using something that can block the gobul`s attacks and can attack hard and fast. I would recommend a lance. The gobul also goes on land as well; use this to your advantage as it is significantly easier to fight on land. Good luck?
Gobul's pretty easy if you're a gunner. Her attacks are all fairly slow, so just dodge and counterattack using whatever she's weak to. Sub S should help a lot too.
Also there's hardly such a thing as "better" armour in this game - more like armour better-suited to different situations. It really comes down to what elements and skills you want to use. But still you're going to have to switch armour for different bosses anyway. It's very difficult to get by using just one set of armour once you reach the three-star hunts.
Thanks guys. I may try out the bowgun and see where that gets me. I will find out it's elemental weaknesses and try to get armour and weapons that will pwn it. Thanks for the suggestions guys I'm still recovering from the super scary underwater fight so I'll try again tommorow
@SUPERZ Well I say pretty easy but it's all relative isn't it? You NEED to be able to orient yourself in an instant, react to attacks quickly, and stay alert and cautious all the time. And the only way you'll be able to hit anything underwater is to use first-person mode. If that doesn't sound like it suits your gameplay style then I don't recommend you try bowgun.
EDIT: I keep singing the praises of bowguns but the other weapons deserve love too! Obviously there isn't any perfect weapon, but if you can find one that suits how you like to play then that's the most important thing. I think lance isn't bad against Gobul either, but JayArr would know more about that.
I'm not bad as bowgun it's just harder for me to see if I'm actually affecting the monster. I'm pretty good at dodging too Is JayArr a lance person? I always think you're JayArr cuz' at one point he had the same avi as you
Check out SUBLIME GAMER, my YouTube Channel
God loves you
Should I change my avi then? I'll have to go make a new one!
Yeah, often bowguns seem kind of weak because they feel less visceral, but really they do about the same damage as other weapons. However if you set them up correctly you'll be able to at least triple the damage other weapons can do. Autofire + clip of 6 or more + monster's elemental weakness is pretty devastating! Though if you set them up wrong you're in for a looooong quest, and all your ammo gone.
Reminds me of some guys talking about the bowgun online a couple of days ago.
"Guy1: Hey guys, first time I'll be using the bowgun, so I may suck at it. Guy2: Hey you want to hear a helpful hint then? Guy1: Sure. Guy2: Don't miss. Guy1: Har har. everyone else lulz"

When I was hunting for the guildand I was finally done and getting my "rewards" I must have accidently hit the wrong button and ended that part before I could get my armor orbs. Will this game always give me those orbs when I finish these? I think it was the first urgent hunt. It saved automatically afterwords, so it didn't do me any good to reset. Even though it's counted as done, I thought I'd redo that mission. Makes me mad about those orbs. I don't think I got them because when I looked to see what I had, there were 3 (Which is what i would have got, I think), but I had some before I started hunt there in the first place. I'd hate to think that there was only a limited amount of these orbs and that I'd have to start over again from the begining to get these orbs back.
@SZM - If you are naturally good at dodging you should try rocking a Hammer or a LongSword (when you unlock it). To start just work on upgrading a Hammer to a respectable level and take it against a Great Jaggi. You'll notice a huge difference in damage output. Probably on;y have to hit half as much or less as a SnS.
If you want to go with BowGun definitely listen to HolyMackeral. We hunt everyday and he is unreal with that thing.
@JayArr Awesome hunts today. Will you be online later? I just fought Jhen Moran twice. ABSOLUTELY EPIC. We lost both times, but it was unbelievably fun and challenging.
@BellGoRiiing The Auto-Tracker skill is available from the Hunter armour set. It's not meant to be used later in the game though since its defense and skills are outclassed by the other sets.
I beat Q boy earlier (The Yellow Bird That Summons Other Monsters) and I'm finally getting to the challenge of the game after fighting this thing. The first time I was incredibly stupid and charged in and got myself killed. After I went back later I fainted once but I still got the thing down, dear god that was a lot harder then I ever expected. I used almost every bit of my ammo, but at least the infinite bullets from the medium bow-gun is pretty powerful. Funny thing is, next up I have to capture him next and if it goes the way of the great Jagi then it'll be a cinch, I must be better at capturing then killing! Also where do I get the herbivore eggs in the Plains?
Oh...not an item, that sucks, should have been an item or something, lol. Anyways, decided to give online a break and on single player mode I'm doing the 20 Baggi hunt, I have 10 minutes left and the last of them is in area 6...problem is, I don't know how to get up there. I have the Wii menu up...so, yeah...not wanting to waste any more time...so, yeah...HELP!!! XD
Well when I went to capture Q boy on D. Island I was doing just fine and slowly bringing him down, then as I'm reloading he makes a weird call for a creature and a Beacon comes out of area 8, I simply brush it off and continue with the fight, I have him breathing hard and falling over like a drunk man and then it happened. The giant motherf*#*$ing dragon lands on the field My response was HOLY S#$T MAN! YOU GOT TO BE F%$#ING KIDDING ME! Then he proceeds to kill me while Q Boy regenerates his health in the corner and this sucker pushes me under him and kills me. Epic I'll admit that, but F@#$ING cheap as well.
@Supermarioman: Pretty much what happened to me...I just bolted out of the area and hoped Peco followed me. XD (somehow managed to capture him too without Rathian following me everywhere...)
Anyways...yeah...anyone know about the 20 Baggi quest? Kinda wanting to know so I can finish it.
