@Machu And you're in the EU right? Bleh. Wish I could play with you.
Yup, totally sucks dude. For every EU NL friend I get to play with, there is a US one that I can't. I pray they unlock it once Capcom have a better idea on the amounts of traffic and stuff.
@Josh: Funny ad dude. The marketing for this game has been unparalleled. Take note 3rd parties!!!
edit: omg I've just been cheesing on the net for an hour. Idiot! That's one less hour in my happy place, doh!
I'm assuming that this is Armor Sphere+ and not the regular one...well how do you get the plus...I need to upgrade my armor since this Barioth or whatever is really damaging me. (got close to killing it too but then all my continues were used up. T_T
Well I've played about 7 hours and while I've enjoyed, the biggest thing I've killed is a Great Jagi. I have a couple questions though. First how to use the Combining Books, I haven't been able to figure them out and second how do you fish in region 10? Help would be much appreciated

If you have the stuff you need to fish, just go to the far east side of the shore and it should prompt you to press A. When you see a fish bit, press it again.
If you're doing the golden fish quest, be prepared for serious frustration. The other fish are slightly faster, making it hard to get the one you want. (At least, that's what happened to me)

Just owning them increases the rate at which you combine items. Throw it in your chest and never look at it again
Got this lastnight.........WOW. Loving it so far.Only managed about four hours last night so still on Level 1 quests but I can see this one consuming me for a loooooooooong time.So glad I took the plunge getting it as I nearly didn't bother! Still got a lot to learn about all the item, weapons etc. Can't wait to start slaying some of the bigger monsters and experimenting with different weapons. Bye bye life, hello MH3
I'm about 7-8 hours in and just starting to realise what a BIG game it is in single player alone.
I've not touched online yet and am still dawdling through single-player. I've got the week off so I fully expect to be online in the next few days, packing bowgun.
Last night's questing with Edhe and Machu was seriously awesome. Hunting Qurupeco, everything was going to plan until bloody RATHIAN turns up. Queue huge amounts of running around and getting destroyed by her tail. It was awesome fun!
I just found another useful site for the game showing the most vulnerable areas of wyverns - http://www1.atwiki.com/mhiii/. Click on "boss class" and then a monster's name to find out loads about its elemental resistances, most vulnerable areas and carve rates. Should come in handy for those really hard beasties.
@Prosody: I actually felt like a useful member of the team up until that massive beast arrived. After that, I was running around like a headless chicken.
@Luigi78: Excellent Dude. I'm glad you weren't put off by your early impressions. Enjoy your days off.
You did great! I think we had a really good team going last night: Jim's covering fire was awesome, Edhe's Switch Axing was top-drawer and me and you just slashed everything else to bits. Awesome. I'll be picking up a USB keyboard in the next few days I think, though my gaming setup will get a bit cluttered with 360 pad + headset, Wii Remote + Classic Controller and a USB keyboard too. The price I pay for good hunting though!
Thanks! I feel I can fight, I've got that bit down, now I just need to master the use of items. I'm still only doing 2 star quests in single player so give me a week and I shall be up to scratch. You're right about the balance of the team btw, it seemed perfect.
Typing on the USB keyboard is a revelation, you can run around with one hand and type 'AAAAAGH!' with the other. I've already made a strip of paper which fits under the F keys, so I can whip out a specific gesture at any time. Ha! It reminds me of those awesome days of keyboard layouts, I just wish they had gone full-hog and assigned more actions to the keyboard, or perhaps made it customizable. Pah! How dare I wish for more.
What an ingenious idea that strip of paper is. Post it here and I'll put it on my keyboard too
After a few more days' training I want to have a go at taking down Rathian with you guys. I have a day off tomorrow and although I should spend it tidying up and doing housework, I know I could be hunting Lagiacrus and making even more amazing armour to show off to you guys (seriously, this Barroth chest piece is the most amazing armour I've seen yet!)
I demand more! I'll be online tonight after 10pm if you fancy a match, Machu
The strip of paper isn't anything fancy, it is just that, but with gesture names scrawled across. To save you some time in making one here is the list...
Yesterday I hunted Barroth 6 times. I am so tired of Barroth. But I'm trying to get the Barroth armour set so I don't mind... mostly. Anyway, I like helping people with the HR 8 urgent quest. It's so epic.
@Machu You know you can edit what the shortcuts say, right? You don't have to use the default ones.
Man there is nothing more terrifying than getting the attention of a Lagiacrus under water. What weapon would you guys recommend for taking down a great jaggi?(Been playing lots of online so I`ve been "lacking" in offline quests.) I currently own hunter`s SNS, bone sword, iron sword, bone lance, and Knight`s lance.
What weapon would you guys recommend for taking down a great jaggi?
I don't know what weapon to suggest but one thing I will recommend is learning to evade, and watching his movements so as to avoid any attacks. listen to me, monster pro, haha ;P
I tried the current event quest on my own today. Lots of stuff to collect in area 10, all in a measly 15 minutes?!? I failed (just).
