I greatly enjoyed restarting Prime today, and I can't even begin to recount just how much quicker the platforming bits are now with the Wii controls; really everything just feels so much more intuitive and responsive than it did on the GC. The "advanced" controls finally add a bit of difficulty back to enemies that were far too simple before; I remember just using the lock-on repeatedly to take out bees and other small things flying towards me in the original game, but with the "move while locked-on" part of the Wii controls, those smaller and fast enemies actually require shooting precision to take out. The scan visor is also a hundred times better; I love the "flashlight" feel to it when you browse around for something to scan. I skipped scanning many things my first time through just due to the awkwardness of that process, but it doesn't bother me a bit now.
One very minor point, more an odd observation than a complaint: unless my memory is failing, I was able to look pretty much directly upward in the original game, but now with the Wii controls you can only look upwards at about a 45 degree angle before it doesn't allow you to go any further. I remember glancing straight upwards to the birds flying overhead in a way that I can't quite seem to replicate now.

Working on Prime one now...I'm hoping they didn't tone down the difficulty on ALL the bosses in Echoes, the only one I actually had problems before was Boosty...

I played this for about an hour and a half on Tuesday, it is definitely one of the best purchases I have made. I wouldn't be surprised if I was the only person at my Gamestop who preordered it. When I called, they said they had just gotten their shipment in, so I got the shirt and poster.

Got it at Best Buy today. One of the best purchases I've made for the wii. I'm playing in chronological order, so as to soak up more of the story.
Also, the visor effects are just amazing in the Prime games.Like when you jump into shallow water and water drops appear on screen, or when you get out of deep water and you can see the water slide down the visor. Great stuff. Really immerses you.
The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.
I got my t-shit (XL was all they had though. GAH!! I really needed a large). No poster though This was also the first time I've ever really pre-ordered a game. I learned there's a BIG difference between "ship date" and "sale date".
Nevertheless, the game is pretty awesome. I started on the first of the trilogy thinking I would play them all in order. I just got the infrared visor mod and I'm killing the crap outta some Hunters and metroids.
I had to restart Prime on the 'cube just so that I didn't feel left out. Crackers, I love that game sooooooooo much. I could spend hours just wandering around aimlessly. I'm hoping to grab myself a copy of MPT soon, but I don't have the money to right now.
@everyone who has it: This better have played in your head when you picked it up, or else I am dissapointed in you.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
...So anyone know about all the bosses in Echoes? Or was it just Boost and Spider that have been toned down? All the other bosses seemed ok to me with difficulty in the original.

Watch the video in HD to truely appreciate the difference.
Wow. Significant difference. Watching the free aiming on the Wii version makes the GC version look like you were controlling a brick. Much more dynamic.
OMG one of the reviewers on Game Informer gave this game a 7/10, solely cuz it didn't add anything new to the games outside of controls! I can't believe it!
Somebody should inform Game Informer that both Metroid Prime and Echoes now include widescreen presentation, many unlockables, certain graphical enhancements (full bloom lighting in MP1 for example), Echoes's insane difficulty has been slightly tweaked, and all three games feature faster loading times. Ignorant reviewer. EDIT: He think Wiimote controls make the games worse?!?!

At least it was only the second opinion. The real review gave it a 9 and praised the Wii controls. This Adam Biessener claims that the GC controls were "superior in every way" to the Wii's "gimpy waggle interface." I guess some people just hate the Wii regardless of the title.
Seriously, is he an idiot? He really doesn't like looking in any direction but directly in front of him while he moves? MP1/MP2 had horrid FPS controls.
Started playing Metroid Prime yesterday. Man is that an awesome game. I didn't finish it the first time it came around, but I sure as hell will finish it this time
I have this problem. If I buy it on Friday, I'll probably win a second copy, grrr. If I don't buy it, in the hope of winning a copy from NL, I won't win and will have wasted a whole week where I could have been playing Metroid. Ah frak it I'll just buy it on Friday, I never win owt. Which of course means, I'm gonna win and have two copies. Erm... 0_o
Adam (from GI) isn't an idiot. He just doesn't like the new Wii controls. My biggest problem with Prime 1 & 2 was with the controls. After playing for over an hour, my hands would just cramp up, and I never felt completely comfortable. My biggest complaint with Prime 3 is the controls as well but for a different reason. I just find the interface, i.e. scanning, to be clunky and not very intuitive. I honestly don't know which one I prefer, but I do know that I don't LOVE Prime 3s controls.
I think it's got to be hard for people to review this game. Each of the three included games all got 9s or higher from most reviewers, so you would expect that the collection should at least get a 9, but there IS nothing new here. Sure the graphics are improved and the difficulty has been tweaked, but if you've already played these games or if you still own them, then is this collection worth $50??? Probably not. And, if you wanted to play them for the first time, you could buy Prime 1 and 2 used for less than $20 total. I certainly don't mind that this collection exists, but I don't think it's a must-buy either.
