I bought House of the Dead Overkill so I can also buy The Conduit. I would have done if it hadn't of been given such disappointing reviews. Yes I own a Nintendo Wii but I don't want to buy games that can be done so much better on the other consoles. I don't want to get short changed just cos I own a Wii.

I'll probably pick it up for a budget price.

@thefox Ok u played it but did you finish it? Please tell me, what are the clichés exactly. Name a few and then name a counterpart they've stolen from or something that's been used a lot. No movies though, games are another media, another artform. How many scifi movies or games are there exactly when there occurs alot of twists and turns? I don't wanna spoil the game for anyone but there is a lot of things happening in the game... Hating and flameing doesn't take anyone anywhere but it seems peoples opinion is biased upon all the triggerhappy reviews. Truth is everyone has right to their own opinion. However I think people that say this game is cliché is major-wrong.

Huh, who's flaming here? I said the plot is incredibly cliched, and it's true. Alien invasion? Check. Lone hero that is the only hope? Check. Shadowy groups that use players to their own ends? Check. Wrapping it up in nonsensical conspiracy claptrap does not make it deeper or better. And those twists and turns weren't really much of a surprise. I mean, I dislike the Conduit for other reasons than the crap story, mostly the online.

Well that's fine, but since do we ever care about story in an FPS?
Example in Halo: You wake up as a supersoldier on a big ship, aliens come in, you kill enemies, ship goes down and then you go pshyco killing everyone on planet......or at least that was what I did! I can't name anything else from the story cause I skipped it all, it was barely relevant becuase I only died like 2 times in the whole story and you pretty much have inifnite ammo, because every enemy you kill drops 100 bullets! and another gun! OK i'm sorry i got off topic, but the point is that we don't play FPS's for the story!

But on the other hand FPS game designers think story is oh so important....

I take bad stories for granted, so a non starter either way for me....

Dig into the main game, lets not debat the window dressin'.

IGN: The holiday Wii lineup looks thin for the hardcore crowd. We see this. Gamers see this. What, if anything, is Nintendo planning to address it?

Oh good, I am neither a gamer or hardcore. Saves me from having to be IGNorant.

I'm considering getting this game.. but I think it would be after getting Punch Out!

I've already stated my opinion once, but I'll repeat.

This game is not that good. The only redeeming quality are the controls, which are top notch for the Wii.

1. The Single player is generic. "So what?" you say. "Lots of FPS are generic in their story." Well, I don't mean generic in story alone. There are literally only about 5 enemy types in the game. They all respond with the same AI (per unit type). It's very tiring. Also, the maps are super generic. Here's the "generic FPS map list."
A. The sewers...check!
B. The subway...check!
C. The corridors...check!
D. Maybe one open level...check!
Appendix I: Be sure that you repeat room after room wherever possible to reduce the amount of development time and artificially lengthen the game.
SPOILER ALERT

You're the solo gov't agent, sent with no backup to restore order. Wha...what? You mean, I'm working for an evil organization? Noooo!!! The "bad guy" is my friend now?! As the G4-Xplay review pointed out, it even throws in the cliche'd, "What's going on here!" "DAMMIT WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS," dialogue.

SPOILERS ENDED
There's really nothing redeeming about the single player for me. I beat it on 3/5 difficulty, and didn't want to play it again.

2. Multiplayer. I bought this game FOR its multiplayer. I even stupidly SOLD COD:W@W because I heard all the hype over this game's multiplayer. Unfortunately, that was a big mistake.
2a.The connection times are terrible (sometimes taking up to 5 minutes to select and validate players).
2b.THEN, you are subject to a Mario Kart-style level select where you are at the mercy of whatever other random person you are connected with wants to play. Sure, you can vote, but good luck getting a "bounty hunter" game if you want one. Why limit game-type selections to three types only? Why can't I just select the game type I want to play, and be playing people who like that kind of game? THEN, if I end up with the "wrong" type of game, I am given two choices. I can play it out, even though I don't want to, and hope that the NEXT time around I'll get the type of game I want, OR I can quit and wait another 5 minutes to be synched up with another random bunch of yahoos who don't like the games I like. It's a bonehead decision to put those restrictions on the game.
2c.The glitching is horrible. There is simply NO excuse for spawning inside a wall. How this made it out of their QC testing, I'll never know. AND, the only way out of a mid-wall spawn is to TURN OFF YOUR Wii! There's no menu options to back you out. You can't pause the game and exit. You can't even throw a grenade to kill yourself and force another re-spawn. God help you if your fellow Conduit-players chose a marathon game. You are stuck for 15 minutes. I guess then, you could take the Wii Sports suggestion and take a break from gaming and go outside or something, because we SURE don't want to wait 5 more minutes to be paired with more random people.

In short, the game is MP is buggy as hell. The single player conjures up ZERO emotion, save from a few hearty sighs and eye rolls. If you find it in the bargain bin for $10 you could give it a shot. Otherwise, save your cash.

I think the game is a 6.5 out of 10. Its got its issues but the bottom line is there are worse games on the market. I have been plagued with the online troubles and I actually have no problems with several other games such as Madden 09,Onslaught,COD,Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Water Warfare, Mario Kart etc. etc. The story was kind of annoying to me as the Trust is also a government ran organization from Stargate SG1 and it made me feel as they were totally ripping off the Stargate franchise as the Trust on Stargate is against alien invasion and aquiring alien weaponry. As well the Conduit itself is kind of a rip off of the Stargate itself in a few senses.

Some of the enemies High Voltage based off of Halo and other games it just was not original these factors are part of why it gets called generic. In the end I enjoyed the game but it just did nothing new that I have not already done in a game before. The best thing I can say is I enjoyed the weapons, sniping and overall controls is what made the game decent for me.

One thing that frustrated me is I was being plagued with the online issues day one and I had sent several emails to High Voltage directly and they never replied. So I contacted SEGA and they flat out told me their was no online problems and that I need to send me Wii in for repair. So since that was pure utter B.S. I contacted the Big N and they were friendly about it and they said they had received a few reports of this but however they turned around and said I should contact SEGA even though in the first line to my email to Nintendo I told them I had already contacted SEGA and High Voltage. About a week ago I got a spam email from High Voltage and it came from eric something@&#... about buying their products. I emailed the guy directly to his email and explained the situation and he forwarded it to someone else and they replied back we are working on it with Nintendo and that they are tired of hearing everyones complaints about the game.

Bottom Line I wished I would of waited for a price drop to 29.99 due to horrendous support by High Voltage and SEGA. Due to online issues and telling me they had none and my Wii needed fixed. Oh and guess what its GENERIC

I want to start off by letting you guys know, that this game is one of the best online games there is on the Wii. It is actually my favorite! However, I was somewhat disappointed on some of the features that this game lacks and here I am to talk about it hoping that it will help HVS on the sequel of the righteously-hyped game, The Conduit.

CONS:

-Being unable to form parties of friends to join public matches (Like Call of Duty: World at War)

It is very hard to play with friends/clans against other people because The Conduit lacks this feature. I thought that with HVS knowing other Wii FPS shooters out there, they would look into what CoD: WaW for the Wii did great on and one of the reasons for that is that they created a system where you can create parties so that you and your friends, as a team, can take on other random people and develop teamwork. I know that you can join friends in their game, but most of the time their match is already full. It would've been nice to be at least be included in a waiting list or a queue and be informed how much players are queued before them.

-Limited amount of characters in profile names

This disappointed (although slightly) many serious clan players, because The Conduit limits you to 8 characters in-game. Not much of an annoyance, it's just harder to create an official clan because of this.

-The Absence of Default Weapons for a specific map.

It would've been great if there was a default-set of weapons for a specific map. That way there's a certain standard in matches that people have to agree on, if a clan match does occur. Nonetheless, default set of maps would've been a great addition.

-The Absence of Specific Match types

Things I've looked for such as One Shot Kill, certain-weapon-only mode(such as pistols only), and the option of not having a radar was absent in The Conduit. Although it's understandable that it's not included in public matches, it would've been better if you enabled additional options for private matches.

-The lack of open environment maps

So far, I love the maps presented in the conduit, but I wish there was more maps with more open-environment. Sniping is not too useful in many of the maps, and this is just my opinion.

-The Zoom/scope feature is no less than abysmal.

I have noticed that when I was using the scope and try to zoom in, it ALWAYS zooms in on the center. It becomes a problem when you're trying to shoot someone on top or lower than your dead zone box and it hinders you from efficiently zooming-in on them right where the cross-hair is. The zoom/scope is only useful when the enemy is standing on the same platform/level as you.

-Being unable to relocate the reload button as a motion control.

One of the things I expected from the conduit was being able to have this control. I wanted to reload with my nunchuck and shake my wii remote to change weapons. However the reload and pick-up button is the same so that I couldn't do it that way. It would've been nice if the reload and pick up button was separated or pick up was combined to anything we like.

-Lack of an in-depth Leaderboard

It would've been great (though a drag) if you were able to level down for having too much deaths or suicides. For example, let's say when you're at least rank 11-15, if you can't get a 1:1 kills:death ratio, you would lose exp. points which in turn can level you down back to rank 10. For ranks 16-20, the kills:death ratio has to be at least 2:1, and for the pros (rank 21-24), death ratio must at least be 2.5:1 and for the elites (rank 25) 3:1.

I will be adding more as things come to my head, but this is basically what I am hoping for the sequel. Let it be known that I am not disappointed about this game, because it's FUN AS HECK!. These are just suggestions for the future.

I think you'd find that the multiplayer isn't as much fun when playing with strangers. JMHO. For that type of play, COD:WAW is far superior. Seamless and beautifully crafted.

I agree with you about COD WAW and in my opinion is probably one of the best if not the best online experience on the Wii
