I also am not really sure why we never got an FPS that was of the same quality as a Halo or something (say what you want about those games... they're good fun if you're a shooter fan, and despite a few flaws, they're quite well designed, something that's hard to debate even if you don't like them). Perhaps the Wii's problematic online is partially to blame, but, man... we saw glimpses of how great shooters could be with the Wiimote and 'chuck. Why did we get so few that were truly stellar?
to be fair, most FPSs nowadays are average and boring on the other next gen consoles and I'd put Goldeneye over every next gen FPS (despite very much not being next gen and an ok at best single player mode) outside of Modern Warfare 1, Bioshock, everything Valve made and a couple of others (BULLETSTORM!). So if Red Steel 2 was as good as Goldeneye Wii, those two were better than like 95%+ of all next gen FPSs. So I think Wii did ok at getting quality FPSs and avoiding the 500 that were all exactly the same.
Conduit 2 has a pretty lousy campaign mode (although the story is still entertaining in a sci-fi B-movie kind of way), and it's splitscreen multiplayer leaves a bunch to be desired, but with it's patch system (as well as other good design choices like the weapon variety), it's now the champion of Wii FPS online multiplayer. Mix that with the precision of FPS motion controls, and I'll take its online multiplayer over Halo 3 or any other HD FPS (plus they're all rated M, and Conduit 2 is only rated T; I still don't get how the Wii has a handful of good T rated FPSes, while I don't know of a single one on the HD consoles).
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
Well, there's Retro City Rampage, if it ever comes out.

I just checked out the 10 min. video on nintendolife, is that the TMNT van at the 6min. 55sec. mark? It looks very promising, kind of reminds me off GTA: Chinatown. The official website informs that it will be released on XBOX Live and WiiWare sometime in 2011. I hope it's sometime soon, I need something like this in my Wiiware collection. It's too bad there hasn't been anything like this available on WiiWare so far. I would really liked to have seen more open world titles. (<:

Wiiware probably would have gotten games like Super Meat Boy, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Marvel VS Capcom 2, Retro City Rampage, etc if Nintendo didn't put that stupid limit on their Wii Shop. I wish Rhythm Heaven and the new Kirby game wern't so late in the Wii's life. I would say a Wii version of Pac-Man VS was a missed opportunity but the Wii U's controller would actually make it better for Wii U, although I do wish more Namco arcade games came to the Wii VC outside of Japan. I also wish Konami's Genesis games were released on the VC. Sega should've brought Chu Chu Rocket to the Wii with both the quality and online of the DC version and the extras of the GBA port.

I would've loved to play Scott Pilgrim vs. the world, I wish nintendo hadn't put that stupid size limit on wiiware. Limbo looks really good too.

Agree with this. It takes just a glance to see how little originality and depth there is in most of modern FPSs. There are a few exceptions, of course, but most of what you see on other consoles is just the same old song — with a different presentation.
With Goldeneye and Red Steel 2 we got two very solid, very original, exclusive Wii FPSs. Plus there's another handful of titles (The Conduit serie, the Call of Duty serie) whose range goes from very good to mediocre. I don't think we should be asking for more.
That said, Pikmin 3 is the obvious "game that should have been". Speaking of promised games, Capcom promised another fighting game for Wii (possibly Tatsunoko vs Capcom 2?)...before deciding they didn't want to have anything to do with the Wii cause Monster Hunter Tri ONLY sold 2 millions (how much did they expect to sell? 86 million copies?)
On a final note, speaking of games that shouldN'T have been, I'd say MadWorld. Not that it's a bad game...it's a very good game etc, but it's not so incredible as Sega thought when it came out. Sega had such high expectations for it, thinking they would have turned the Wii into a "serious" console with just one game and sell millions of copies. Then when it failed, they decided to stop trying to sell "mature" games on Wii. Morons.
ps: I don't see any reason why Shenmue 1+2, a ten years old game that failed to get the interest it deserved on both Dreamcast and Xbox when it came out, should have been released for Wii.
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...
I don't have any particular game, but I think Nintendo should of made a much bigger use of the internet. The only Nintendo game that had good internet play was Mario Kart. When I buy a game on PS3 it almost always has SOME form of internet connectivity. Very few Nintendo games even connected to the internet. Games like New Super Mario Bros. and Wii sports would have been pretty cool with internet.
