So, the reign of the Wii just about over. At this point there is little doubt that Nintendo is beginning to shove it under the rug in favor of the 3DS and in preparation for the Wii U. There are likely few surprises left in store for the console, so looking back, what games do you think should have been given a shot on the Wii. They could be cancelled games that might have been, or games that never existed in the first place but ones you would love to have played. I'll start with a sequel I've been waiting to be announced for years, and which I think would have made a great fit on the Wii;

Earthworm Jim Wii (or, since anything following EJ2 doesn't exist in my mind, you could call it Earthworm Jim Thrii)

Star Fox Wii. THE most missed opportunity.

Yes. And Kirby Return to Dreamland should have been 2009.

Star Fox should make a great fit for the Wii U, I hope they jump on it.

I don't know why but w.e someone puts game cube games on dolphin I don't see a difference.
Edit: They do make new IPs... just no one cares for them. cough Zip.

Nintendo has too many IPs and could even make new game play styles from old ones. Just like Kid Icarus.

Sonic Generations on Wii.

Sega knows how to make Sonic games better on Nintendo systems (Sonic Colors, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle), every time I see footage of this game I weep because I don't have a 360 and PS3, and rage because we are getting the ultra-butchered 3DS version instead.

FonistofCruxis

I completely agree with Dragoon.

I think its sad to be making a topic like this for a console that probably won't have a successor for at least a year and what makes it even sadder is that the timing doesn't seem wrong as there probably won't be anymore surprise announcements for the wii unless there are surprise localisation announcements for certain games.
A game that I think should've been is Sadness, that had the potential to be a really scary horror game. Another one is a localised version of Tales of graces for wii.

A "New Super Mario Bros" game that was actually NEW?!

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

Wow... I don't even know where to start, there are so many missed opportunities...
Let's begin with Starfox, as stated earlier. Follow that with a new Pilot Wings - Wii Sports Resort showed how awesome that could be....
Pikmin 3, obviously... I still have a hard time getting over that after playing the NPC games...
Also, more games like Wii Sports/Resort and like Endless Ocean...
From third parties, Time Splitters 4 and a new Rogue Squadron game released by 2009 could have really helped change the Wii's image into more of a gamer's console.
How about a decent 3rd party racing game? Maybe a good quality Ridge-Racer or Need for Speed/Burnout?
A good flight game was sorely missing on the console... I was dying for another one after Sky Crawlers!
A good RPG earlier than five years after the system launched?? ToG could have been that game!

Also, follow ups to some good games that made their debut on the console and deserved enhanced sequels:
Little King's Story
Zack & Wiki
FF:CC Crystal Bearers
Resident freakin' Evil

others from Nintendo: more Zelda!
possibly a sequel to Other M that fixed some of that game's flaws....

and I haven't even mentioned the so-obvious-it's-apparently-not Lightsaber Game from Lucas Arts... sigh...

Every New Super Mario Bros. game has been NEW.

Just for you.

other than selfishly wishing XSeed exclusively published games on Nintendo systems and NOA's stupidity, nothing except for Pikmin, Star Fox and a new Rogue Squadron is something that I think needed to happen or whatever.

they have been pretty unoriginal and not as legendary as the older games, it's a good point. The amount of people who think NSMB Wii was the best/pratically only Wii game that year sickens me.

I'd love to see and F-Zero as a launch title for Wii U. Maybe that could come as an E3 announcement?

I'll agree totally on Star Fox Wii, though. I think everyone wanted that game. The Wii somehow seems made for it... especially after seeing how amazing Sin and Punishment: Star Successor felt to control. And as great as SF64 is, I'm disappointed it's coming out for 3DS instead of an original SF title. Someone needs to bring that series back to its former glory... soon.

I also am not really sure why we never got an FPS that was of the same quality as a Halo or something (say what you want about those games... they're good fun if you're a shooter fan, and despite a few flaws, they're quite well designed, something that's hard to debate even if you don't like them). Perhaps the Wii's problematic online is partially to blame, but, man... we saw glimpses of how great shooters could be with the Wiimote and 'chuck. Why did we get so few that were truly stellar?

more games that should have been:
Luigi's Mansion 2 - flashlight pointer controls FTW
more good 3rd party fighting games!! (SF, MvC, SC take you're pick...)
Lots more 3rd person shooter games! Resi 4 proved it was a winning formula! (how about a real Dead Space for example??)

to be fair, most FPSs nowadays are average and boring on the other next gen consoles and I'd put Goldeneye over every next gen FPS (despite very much not being next gen and an ok at best single player mode) outside of Modern Warfare 1, Bioshock, everything Valve made and a couple of others (BULLETSTORM!). So if Red Steel 2 was as good as Goldeneye Wii, those two were better than like 95%+ of all next gen FPSs. So I think Wii did ok at getting quality FPSs and avoiding the 500 that were all exactly the same.

Yes, I can't believe they never gave us (or have yet announced) a MotionPlus lightsaber game. Just think Wii Sports Resort MotionPlus Swordplay (with a real swordfighting engine instead of the crappy offensive/defensive mode switching) + Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels with realistically drawn movie (all 6 of them) characters instead of the Clone Wars cartoon + some of the Force Unleashed (the first one, not the crappy second one) Force powers + some aternative fighting styles (Han, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, maybe even R2-D2 as a bonus character) + plenty of unlockables. If they made that and the gameplay delivered, it would print a huge pile of money for them.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
