Many people feel Nintendo have abandoned "core" gamers but I strongly dis-agree, every now and again ol Ninty gives us the ol' wink to let us no they still have our back (as long as its profitable, they are still a company after all). We just have to remember them, which can be difficult especially with all the "Wii is doomed!", "Nintendo abandoned their true fans!" propaganda that plagues the web. Here are 3 simple things that prove this to me, It'd be cool to hear the things that remind you Ninty still cares for the "core" (NB I'm using "core" here to describe long time Nintendo fans)
1. SD expansion - Not necessary for casual gamers 2. Punchout!! - An update of a Nintendo classic made specifically for long time Nintendo fans (filled with nods and winks to fans of the series) 3. 2D MARIO!!!! NSMBW is awesome, harks back to the good ol days of Nintendo gaming!

Sadly, the majority of gamers do have terrible memories regarding Nintendo, especially on the Wii, when it's something good. Yet some of them treat Sony and Microsoft like gods.

Glad I'm not the only one who sees the hypocrisy in some gamers. I've also noticed how the recent "Capcom and Sega abandon Wii" apologies from both companies are being completely ignored, its sad really.

We don't have short memories, we just want to blame something because video games aren't what they were over a decade ago. We're no different than that old geezer down the street that thinks the movies are dead. We just happen to like to bash on the company that is in the same situation as they were in the golden age.

No, you just have poor reading skills. Granted, the title doesn't quite fit the topic, to be honest. Somthing more along the lines of "Nintendo has not abandoned us!" would be more suitable, IMO.

then this thread would be filled with trolls saying something along the lines of "yes they have" As for the topic, they've always had a short memory. Especially when a game comes out & everyone's all praise for it, then a few months later, because it's Fashionable on the net to do so, they turn around & say said game is garbage. I find actually the ones who are at fault for not living up to expectations on the Wii are the 3rd party developers who think that a hardcore game on the wii = rail shooter, or repetitive game that has lots of gore & cussing to hide the fact that the game really isn't that good.
Flandre Scarlet, she's cute, she's colorful, she can blow up entire cities, she's also a vampire. Start running sparklepants.
I find it funny people are having abandonment issues over a video game company. I am an adult, playing video games for 23 years. I see a game I want, I then buy it. If not I do not sit around and worry about it. I could care less about the hardcore, casual crap but thanks to fanboys and the industry that is in nearly every sentence when it comes to games. I could care less about being called a gamer because I am not a geek obsessed with a silly little label to make me look cool or give me a feeling of belonging. I have said it b4, I love video games but I do not get into brand loyalty or fanboyism.
No offense is meant to any one person. Just my take on things. I do enjoy the Microsoft and Nintendo fanboys arguing with each other in Gamestop though.
@dru192: Wait, did Sega apoligize for what they said about not supporting mature games?
Well its not a complete apology, they state that they will continue to make "gamer" games on Wii. Many fanboys misconstrued them as saying they were abandoning Wii. You can find the article here: http://nintendoeverything.com/30815/#comments

Don't sweat it, I doubt any1 here's sensitive enough to get offended by what you said

They haven't abandoned per se, but they are struggling to compensate both their hardcore fans and their new moneymakers, the casuals. !
I agree, but they are the first games company to be in this position, Nintendo have changed the structure of the games industry with the Wii and as they are venturing into unknown territory mistakes will be made.

1. SD expansion - Not necessary for casual gamers We have that, while other companies have hard drives. Lucky us! 2. Punchout!! - An update of a Nintendo classic made specifically for long time Nintendo fans (filled with nods and winks to fans of the series) I haven't played it yet, I hope to soon, though. 3. 2D MARIO!!!! NSMBW is awesome, harks back to the good ol days of Nintendo gaming! I hated NSMBWii, it is crap. I was hoping for something great, like SMB3.
I disagree with your points. The only thing Nintendo does is throw us a bone every once in a while.
The Game.
Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.
2. Punchout!! - An update of a Nintendo classic made specifically for long time Nintendo fans (filled with nods and winks to fans of the series)
Ah yes, Punch Out!! As endorsed by Joe Calzaghe (and his son, I think) - that ad campaign was definitely not saying "look! it's the sequal to that boxing game that you nintendo fans played years ago!!", rather "Look! it's WELSH BOXING STAR JOE CALZAGHE and he likes playing PUNCH OUT!! WII!"
And don't get me started on New Super Mario Bros. Wii's (UK) advertising campaign!
But I don't believe the Wii is doomed solely because of their advertising (in the UK at least - Americans may remember an advertising campaign for Rhythm Paradise with Beyoncé, so it's obviously not confined to the UK), but I think Nintendo should definitely try to embrace a hardcore audience - at least to curb the torrent of family friendly/casual tat on the market.

I see your point, but sometimes you gotta please the majority to make money so you can please the minority. And at this moment in time its the majority (casual gamers) who are keeping Ninty at #1. I don't mind casual marketing as long as I get my great titles!
