Ok so I recently purchased "Fishing Resort" for the Wii and I have to say, it is just awesome! Seriously, this is the most perfectly executed, addicting, well crafted fishing game I've ever played. The titular resort is very expansive and offers various oceans, lakes, rivers, and even frozen areas for ice fishing! There are many varieties of fish and catching them is a blast with the fun, intuitive controls. You can take various missions from the bulletin board in the hotel or from the other residents of the island. You can also buy and upgrade your rod, reel, and bait as well as buy a plethora of various new clothing for your character. It is seriously SO satisfying catching that big fish you've been hunting down forever! Also, the game even has online rankings as well as an option to play with a friend over wi-fi. It also implements Wii Motion Plus to make the controls tighter than they might be otherwise. All this at the budget price of 20 BUCKS! This game is an absolute steal! So if you're a fan of fishing games then I think you owe it to yourself to play this fantastic gem! Its just such a great title at such a great price (and not to mention, very pretty graphics) it would just be such a shame for it to sell poorly. This game NEEDS to sell! So has anyone else gotten Fishing Resort? What do others think of it. Also, why no NLife review? They did a preview a bit before it came out but have neglected to review the completed game...
Is this game related to the DSiWare Fishing Resort? I don't think so, but that game is great. The only fishing game I have played for more than one hour.
I heard about this game, but never bought it, didn't know it was only 20 dollars! I will try to pick this up soon

No relation. Although, I was looking into that DSiWare title a while back but decided to pass. How is it? I'm big on completion so I would love if it had some type of aquarium or record of fish caught or something. Also, do you know roughly how many fish are in it?

I started this thread some months ago wanting to know what other people thought of the game, just because I found it to be totally awesome and addicting... Not a single reply was posted
The game keeps record on the largest 3 and the smallest fish you have caught of every kind (there are about 18-ish kinds of fish, but I havent meet them all in the 10 hours I have been playing the game! [I play it in short spurts whenever I'm bored). You can see your largest fish of every kind on the fish index (giant fish are beasts). The game records all the fish you've caught, how many "greats", "oks" and "ouches" you have scored and gives you a title based on the amount of normal and giant fish you've caught. Every time you catch a giant fish a flower is planted on the top screen behind your character, every 10 flowers the background changes (summer>fall>winter>spring, I don't know what's after spring but I guess it goes back to summer) and new kinds of flowers are planted.
The battles go from "lol easy" to "OMGIMUSTNOTFAILOMGOMG" depending on the size of the fish (and randomness), and the music can get pretty epic on the loger battles too. Getting used to throw and catch the fish is pretty much the hardest part of the game.
The missions are insane though...
If you get to meet someone with the game, you can also trade records and member cards with them.... Also, there's a locked button next to the credits which I'd love to unlock.
Edit: you can also level up your own skills and buy and find several different kinds of lures.
All the videos I watched shows the player catching lots of small fish, which is a turn off. Is their many different kinds of big fish in the game? Looks like you can only catch them on the boat.
I would get it if they released a PAL version! I was a bit disappointed to find out that no-one had picked up publishing rights for PAL - I quite liked the look of the game from the trailers.
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.
It's made by the creator of Sonic the Hedgehog, maybe that will get you guys more interested in it. =P
I got it for Christmas, I really need to play it more, my sister got a hold of it and I haven't seen it since (she really liked it XD).

I have to admit, it looks strangely awesome. If I didn't have so many things left to complete, I might jump at it. Still might, in time, and if only to see just what a great fishing game actually looks like.

This is the finest fishing title I've experienced in my enitire lifetime. It would be extremely difficult to surpass this, even with HD resolution graphics. Fishing Resort truly sets the bar for future fishing titles to come. A must have for any fan of the genre.

This is not only the best fishing game I have ever played, but is possibly the best example of a game that perfectly melds a casual relaxing experience with true hardcore gameplay!
Some of the texture mapping in Fishing Resort looks unbelievably realistic for a Wii title. As a completionist, I'll probably still be playing Fishing Resort for years to come. I just hope the tournaments are kept going strong for that long.
Hm, I seem to be getting it confused with a game by Natsume.. but I'll definitely put this down on games I need to get on Wii before WiiU comes out. It's a pretty long list x_x
I've run into a problem in the shark catch quest. I'm fishing all day on the rock where the driftwood guy is standing. I've tried every combo of tackle & can't catch a shark. I see them swimming around, & they inspect the bait but never hit, & seem to disappear/fade away after awhile. This is preventing my boys & I from enjoying this so called great game. I've wasted a week of ingame time trying & it's starting to irritate me.
please tell me EXACTLY what tackle combo I need to go on. HELP! It's really frustrating us!
@gelkster, you'll preferably want to use the ☆☆☆ L rod and reel. You may be trying to use a color of bait the sharks don't find particularly appetising. Though, the Japanese Bullsharks always seem to swim away for a few seconds after inspecting any color of bait. Although, don't be discouraged by this. They wilI return shortly for a bite, if you leave your bait stay still in the exact same spot. I was pretty much able to pull them in left and right, using the, "Large Red," bait. If that still doesn't seem to work, then your game is malfunctioning my friend. Ha! No, I'm just kidding. If the, "Red Large," bait doesn't seem to be working either, try using the, "Large Quick Hitter," bait.
Try to keep in mind @gelkster, this is a fishing game. It should always be relaxing and enjoyable and never irritating or frustrating. Fishing Resort demands a great level of patience sometimes. You'll see for yourself, when you reach later areas of the island.
I just don't have the time to play a fishing game right now. I have too many other games to play. That, and I don't think I've ever seen this game in stores. It looks good though. Those backdrops are almost photorealistic.
