@sykotek: While the first class is more or less a walk in the park I can ensure you that difficulty is turned up quite some notches in the two later classes.
I'm having second thoughts about buying this today....is there enough content here to justify a purchase? I mean 1000 points is starting to sound a little steep...
I´m not sure about buying it, i think it´s kinda short game for 1000 points, maybe 12 tracks can be played in one hour and with no online there is no much replay value. Can first class be played in another difficulty? i.g. in Mario Kart Wii Mushroom Cup can be played in 50 cc, 100cc or 150cc.
There are twelve tracks and three difficulties. They are pretty challenging, especially the later difficulties (only finished the first one). Apart from that, there is a challenge mode with a lot of missions. Those are very challenging. You can expect things like finishing a track (other then the twelve in de normal mode) in a certain amount of time, or collecting items, reaching a certain speed. Stuff like that.
About the speed, is it really looking that slow? I think it's pretty fast paced. The second difficulty seems even faster.

I can't believe there is no online play I would have thought it would have been a no brainer for this kinda game. I will still end up getting it but I'm in no rush now that I know that very disappointing.
How many different racers can you unlock? Are the courses diverse enough? Is there lots of different music?

It looks like there's plenty of racers to unlock, and the courses are pretty different from each other (and they get tougher as you unlock more). The music didn't seem to vary too much but it's still a good soundtrack.
I ended up buying it and am quite pleased! The first league under the easiest difficulty is no push-over like I thought it would be. I got 5th place my first time through, 3rd on my next time through, and then 1st on the third try. i love the sense of speed and the controls are right up there with Mario Kart Wii! Also, the inclusion of those challenges is nice and should considerably extend playability. They are very difficult! Can't wait for this weekend when I'll try multiplayer with my step sis. Really glad I ended up getting this game! The only flaw is no online which would have been great for a game like this. But the file size is at 320 blocks which, as far as I know, is the absolute maximum so there was virtually no room for online components. I'll blame Ninty's file restrictions on this one. Still a great game though!
I did this video a couple hours ago. I plan to do at least one more, probably one where I'm playing on the hardest difficulty. And yes, the game gets faster as you move away from the first difficulty.
@WaveBoy, you can't compare downloadble titles like FAST, Jett Rocket and Rage of the Gladiator with retail games like F-Zero (or Wipe-Out), Super Mario Galaxy and Punch-Out. They have to work with a very small amount of space in comparison to a disk, they have considerably less money to spend then Nintendo to produce the games and less people to work on it. So naturally it will miss some features or will be lacking in some departments. Then again, it's also a lot cheaper then big game titles.
