The only way I would be able to play this game is if I was to get the homebrew channel and get the region free thingy but i'm scared that it might brick my Wii :-s

There are plenty of NA Wiis on Ebay, just save your allowance! I paid just over £100 for mine including local power supply (official) and a cheap 3rd party component video cable.
There's one for £99 including UK power supply for £99 starting bid, go for it! Oh and join the chat if you want a link; I did post it here, but that might look like I'm actually endorsing it, so I removed it.
Ohmigod, ohmigod, OH MY GOD! I just got this in the post today (bargain basement price of £24.26 for the one with the Wii Wheel pack-in, brand new including P+P) and IT IS SOOOOOO AWESOME! Completely outdoes Excite Truck for me. I was in the zone, man got S ranks in the School Cup in all bar one track on the first go (that one I got an A...big points required).
Then, most amazing of all, I decided to try online figuring that having a country setting of Brasil and being in the UK I'd have a rubbish experience, but it was actually very good even in a 6-bot race. I even won 200 stars! What a brilliant game this is. 5X10^6 lashes with a wet noodle for NoE for not bringing it over, it is so lovely! If you can import I do strongly recommend it and I'm happy to swap codes (check the sig) though the time zone make make arranging friendlies tough. Just look for SEAN in the randoms and it might be me!
Did I mention I like this game?
Yeah this game was an absolute blast for about 2 weeks then I just sort of lost interest. It'll be on my top Wii games of 2009 list but I'll admit I've traded it in since I got it. I just beat everything in the game and lost interest...not sure why.

Yes Stevie, it would indeed. In fact I've written up a companion guide to my Japanese importer's guide but we're waiting on creation of a new Guides section to put it in before publishing.
Everything should be compatible, though you'll want a component video cable since SCART pinouts don't exist in the NA Wii and a lot of European TVs don't do NTSC signal over composite/S-video.
It's a great game. I haven't played it recently, but I played a fair amount a while back. The online play is awesome. I also like the ability to send challenges to people and attach a reward to it. You need to exchange both game friend code and Wii console code in order to send and receive challenges, but it's pretty cool. I should get back into playing this game.
Wow that sounds cool. HP3 can you give me your Wii code as well? Crunc, how about it? Code swappage? My NA Wii code is being added to my signature now!
