I read that Super Mario RPG wasn't originally released in Europe. Now that it's on the VC in Europe, do you like it? I got it shortly after it came out here in the States; first time I ever played it. I've found it interesting: a combination of Super Mario World with a primitive RPG.
It was okay. I was spoiled by N64 Paper Mario though. Super Mario RPG came across as shallow, both as a platformer and as an RPG.
If we had gotten it the same time it was released in America, I would have loved it and would have a great sense of nostalgia for it today. But since we didn't, I don't. Not to say that I don't like it, just that I've played better Mario platformers and Square RPGs on the SNES.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
Everyone has their own diverse tastes. I'm okay with that. I'm part European, part American. I've always had a fondness for Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, since I was very little. It was my very first turn-based RPG. To me, it's a very fun RPG. And, like I do with the majority of platformers, I hold down the Y button to dash in the overworld. The battle system is unique, 'cause it involved using timed attacks. If you time it right, you'll deal more damage to the enemy. I liked that. It's also fun to discover hidden treasure chests, and the soundtrack is wonderful. I don't mind that some people dislike this game. I respect other peoples' opinions.
