Today ign announced that street fighter 4 would be coming to the iphone. Although yes i have an iphone and i can try out the game, i'm more disappointed that the game just bypassed the Wii. SF4 has been on 360, PS3, PC and now the iphone. Really? Last time i check the Wii was the number one system for how many months. It should be a no brainier.
If you remember the days of the old Street Fighter, which system was it that helped it become so popular in everyone's homes? Sega and Nintendo, when 23 different street fighter 2 versions (that was a joke) to Alpha 2 and you're telling me 4 can't come on the Wii, you saw how nuts people went for Tasunoko vs Capcom which by the way sold over 100,000 copies in it's first week. Tell me where's my SF4 for the Wii instead of the silly iPhone, which my hands are going to cover the screen and be interrupted during text message, phone calls and crappy battery that loves to die on me

@Swiket that doesn't really explain anything. That's just like saying "we should hang out" and never do. It makes even less sense because of that. Capcom is saying it could happen, and they might do it, but they never did it back in 2008, and now it's coming to the iPhone. It's ridiculous. Everyone and their mother wants to play this game. A lot of the people who have a Wii now are those who grew up with Nintendo through the years, including playing Super Street Fighter 2 on the SNES.
Street Fighter 4 is okay. TvC is better. But what would be best would be if they made a Street Fighter especially for Wii, like how Square has a separate line of Final Fantasy games for Nintendo systems. Something 2D, brighter and more colorful, with simpler controls... something along those lines. This port is quite a snub for the Wii, but oh well. I'm sure fighting fans without a Wii are wishing they could play TvC now.
Owning both SF4 and TvC, I can honestly say although the mechanics are very different from each other (e.g. a lot more flying around in TvC and crazy stuff going on, longer battles, etc.) both are pretty stellar. TvC seems like it makes more sense for the Wii than on 360/PS3 and SF4 seems like it makes more sense on 360/PS3...if I only had one console, I would be content with TvC OR Street Fighter IV (although I like SFIV more since I'm more familiar with the characters and mechanics at the moment).
if TvC does well, we might be seeing TvC2, other sequels, and a whole lineup of SF4/5.... no worries here. TvC is THAT good. I'm more worried that EA's not releasing Medal of Honor (new) to the Wii. Capcom screwed up with RE5, but recently they are redeeming some of it.

It actually makes perfect sense. Why release a game like SF4 to compete directly with a fighter the already have out? Maybe sometime down the line the Wii will get a visually gimped version of SF4, but I kinda doubt it.
And you're jealous of the iphone port? Really? Have you seen how ugly and awkward it looks?

It makes sense to go to the Iphone, there aren't many decent fighters on there cept maybe Gamelofts game, and if they can get the controls as good as you can get them for a touch screen, it would probably make Capcom millions, even if it started at 10 bucks or something, but I imagine a lower 6.99 price. The thing is, developing on the Iphone is INCREDIBLY cheap compared to a Wii retail game. I imagine for an Iphone game like SFIV it would cost between... 50-100k to make, where a Wii retail for the same game would probably cost 3-10 million. This includes development, marketing, manufacturing, blah blah. So...The risk is so much smaller than the Wii and it'll probably make them money no matter how it sells on the Iphone (it'll probably sell at LEAST 20k on the Iphone in the first month which would be enough to make a profit for them with a 6.99 price point)
PSP.. I dunno bought that. lol I guess it makes sense to port it to that and it would probably sell pretty well in Japan, dunno about the states though with all the piracy.
No it doesn't make any sense but is something that Nintendo has done this generation is too show how nonsensical and absurd are the 3d parties these days.
TvC is great but there's no reason why we shouldn't have SF4 too. We wanted a 3d person Resident Evil since the experience we had with RE4 port and instead we receive an onrail shooter that nobody asked for it. They put a lot of effort in the graphics, why not make a 3d person shooter?! And the list goes and goes...
Granted, Capcom has made better games for the wii than other companies but they still see the Wii users like aliens that speak a weird langauage while actually is not that hard to figure out. We just want good made games with the concepts we actually like. Is not they are hard to get. Is just that 3d parties don't give a damn. Money? They can make money they just don't want to work harder.
Yeah I think Capcom have made some of the worst decisions regarding Wii releases. Super Street Fighter 4 should have been a definate for the Wii, especially after the hype and praise Tatsunoko vs Capcom received. I mean they also give us endless ports of Street Fighter 2 but wont even consider the newest game in the series. I mean we have FIVE versions of Street Fighter 2 on the VC alone - not even counting the likes of Street Fighter 1 and Alpha 2. If they think the second game in the series deserves five releases, then surely some of us would be interested in the fourth title!
Not only that, but Resident Evil 5 (or a version of) should also have been released on the Wii. Resident Evil 4 found its home on Wii - it was a high selling game, praised for its controls and felt right at home on the system. People want more be we haven't got it. Also, the fact the Wii is the only console every other game in the Resident Evil series is playable on means releasing it on the 360 (a console with NO other Resident Evil titles) means we're denied the final chapter wheras 360 owners are denied everything else.
It just doesn't make sense. Sort it out, Capcom!!!
Capcom's made a couple of good moves with the Wii though, like Mega Man 9 (and presumably 10). Maybe third-party WiiWare sells better than third-party retail games?
I'm pretty sure they aren't porting SF4 to the Wii simply because it cannot look the same as the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions due to its lower hardware specs. The reason why they're doing an iPhone version is probably that people have lower expectations for graphics on a handheld (a non-gaming device, even) so they can lower the visuals without fans lashing back, and because everyone and their dog is on the App Store bandwagon at the moment. It's an easy, cheap way for studios to make a quick buck compared to doing a full-blown AAA title or port.
I'm actually hoping for a Marvel Vs Capcom 3 (on the Wii please!), since everyone is aware of the characters from Marvel and MvC 1 and 2 were just class. EA has finally lost their exclusive Marvel rights so we can go back to actually good games with Marvel characters in them now.
Out of curiosity, has anyone emailed Capcom and asked about the possibility about SFIV on the the Wii? Sure, I'll bet you'll get a pointless generic response, but there is a chance you may get some insight from them.

I think there's something dirty going behind the scenes there, seriously. You see the Sony trailer for RE5 with the "arc" - copying RE4's style.. they must have asked Capcom not to do this version for the Wii and steal their thunder. I know it sounds dubious, but it makes sense think about it.

yeah, if TvC sells well, I want to believe that capcom will go nuts and release a lot of fighter exclusives for the Wii. Darkstalkers Wii.

No one's jealous of the iPhone port, but it is ridiculous that it's on the iPhone and not the Wii
They are in it to make money. A lot of 3rd party games on the Wii seem to sell really, really bad. Especially Capcom's.
I wish that companies didn't really just makes games because it's extreme amounts of money, but I kinda have to agree with this. There's no point in porting SF4 to the iPhone other than money. And even if SF4 was ported to Wii, it would sell way less than the other versions. RWP hit this one on the nose. It doesn't make any sense to port that game except for the sole reason of money.

I guess the i-phone user base - by buying a telephone - has shown Capcom greater commitment to video games than the Wii or DS buyer - who bought a game console.
Lets quit buying game consoles. What good are they? Why provide game software for game consoles - people who buy game consoles are causals and do not buy video games. If people want to buy video games they will either buy a smart phone or download them on their PC for an emulator or something.
Who needs game ownership and physical media? I would rather have an app for that.
