If you've taken the dive at DLC from FFCC:MLAAK, MM9 or any other game (Alien Crush Returns doesn't count because it's free and not true DLC) please share your thoughts here on if it was worth the price of admission.

Everything for MM9 is worth it, I think. To rank them in order of worth:
1) Endless Mode -- I really could play this mode endlessly. 2) Hero Mode -- Even if you are, like me, not particularly good at Mega Man, the cheap tricks Capcom pulls will get some laughs unless you take the game too seriously. 3) Extra Stage -- Sadly, this is only available for the time trial mode, so if you die once you start at the beginning, but even never having gotten to the end, I really like this. 4) Proto Man Mode -- Worth it just to hear Proto Man's theme when the level starts. Some have described this mode as a sort of Easy Mode since he has a shield, slide, and charge shot, but he also takes double damage and his extra abilities aren't that helpful, at least not to me. Still, very cool to be Proto Man for the first time. 5) Super Hero Mode -- Even funnier than Hero Mode, but if I had to pick just one of them, I'd stick with Hero since I can actually make some progress in Hero Mode.
Of course, I think MM9 is just about a perfect game, but I actually prefer Endless even to the normal game, so I highly recommend that DLC if not all the DLC.
I have a lot of DLC for FFCC MlaaK. The dungeon pack, the shrine pack, the new house. The DLC is expensive ( I spend 1000points for it). Only the Dungeon Pack is a really good choice. 13 new dungeons for 'only' 300 points. Before downloading anything for FFCC you should finish the game once, because it is an expensive game.
The Space Invaders Get Even content is really good. All together the game is 2000 points, but it's broken up into four pieces at 500 ea. so you can space it out easily. When you're all done you've got the equivalent of a full disc release game with seven missions having three stages each. The space is the main issue: all in you're talking 670 points, but thanks to the SD storage solution you can move the main game to SD. The DLC appears as save data and cannot be read from SD, so that's 371 blocks on your Wii -- it's high, but no worse than a couple of WiiWare games.
Bubble Bobble Wii has a couple of extra mission packs -- it's unlockable content rather than DLC technically, but at only 200 points each for 50 levels per set, I think it's worth it if you like a lot of Bubble Bobble.
One thing I like about DLC is how Frugal I am over 100-300 points, I'll look at something and go... man that's too expensive for the shrine pack for FFCC:MLAAK. But in reality I'd spend more at the Arby's next door trying to get food than I would spend to make my game last another replay. Basically, when it comes to DLC, I need to loosen up and just get the thing
Thanks for the SIGE recommendations. I plan to get the base game with SameGame and then go from there.

If you want cheap deaths for laughs you should get IWBTG instead.
That's also funny, but most would not get past a three or four screens, so I think MM9 [Super] Hero will get you more laughs. I prefer just to watch IWBTG on Youtube.
imo, i dont think any dlc is worth it on a nintendo platform. the limited memory doesn't allow for anything truly substansial like episodic content. as such it seems as if we're treated to content that should've been available from the begining like the dlc for mm9, mylaak, and sivge.

Substantial? Get on a PS3 (I would assume 360, too, but I don't know) and you'll pay $3 to get extra costumes for characters that do nothing. For Little Big Planet, I think I paid $6 or $10 just so I could have that gun they added later on -- sure, they advertised it came with levels, but they were just tutorials. I don't think Nintendo is the only one with insubstantial DLC.
Also, MM9 is on all three consoles with DLC for the same prices, so it's not a good example of why Nintendo's DLC is specifically insubstantial. And Space Invaders was supposed to be a retail game, so if you get all the DLC, you're just ending up paying the price you should have, but the DLC makes it possible for you to choose if you want the full game or not, which I think is great for the consumer. That just leaves My Life as King, which I don't know much about, but the DLC seemed to add a lot to the game, at least some of it. But even if the DLC are insubstantial for that game, that's just one example.
Obviously the Wii doesn't have much DLC and for good reason, but I think what it does have on offer is at least reasonable. I'm not generally a fan of this practice anyway, even on PS3 where they have big expansions as downloads like in Burnout and Warhawk (amazing game), but who can say no to more Mega Man?
I'll find out tonight if the Puzzle Bobble Wii DLC is worth it, but given it's going to be two more level packs (and potentially sizeable if the 135 figure I saw is the block size for each) I cannot see passing it up. Who wants less Puzzle Bobble?
EDIT: Confirmed, totally worth it. Basically you get an additional two Puzzle Bobble games for only 200 points each, though it's technically unlockable content rather than extra downloads...
Thanks for the thoughts, Sean. I'll take a look at it once Bobble makes it across the pond. SIGE is on my to-get list along with (some of) its DLC next time I get points.

Now that FFIV: The After Years is out, what are everyone's thoughts on its DLC? Is it worth the price of admission (300 on average) for what you get?

I made sure to get the Proto Man mode for Mega Man 9 and I really enjoyed it. Like Adam said, it's worth the price of admission just to hear Proto's theme at the beginning, and being Proto Man really changes the way you play the game.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
@ Objection_Blaster: I think the price is pretty fair. From what I understand, it's going to be as long as a normal FF game, so it would only be natural they charge about full retail price ($38?).

Yes. Unlike the DLC in MLAAK, Rydia's story actually makes the game longer and more interesting (in that you have a whole new area to explore, new characters to play as and more story to see). And its not just a throwaway download either - every chapter you complete gets merged together for the final chapter somehow so you'll be playing the final chapter with the benefit of all your hard work from the previous chapters. Plus if I wanted to spend 3800 points on WiiWare, I'd want to spend it on something I'd actually want and enjoy rather than buying shovelware just for the sake of spending the points.
Megaman 9 is too hard for me as it is so I shall not be downloading anything for it. Should it have included the DLC in its original download? No... I'd imagine Megaman 9 cost a lot more than its basic cost per download to create - the DLC is a way for Capcom to recuperate development costs while still being able to give the main game to consumers at a relatively cheap price.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
Many people may not agree with me on this one, but I think the FFIV DLC is totally worth it. I haven't even beaten Rydia's Tale yet and I'm already 3 hours into that, so if you wanna go with a dollar to hour ratio I already have my money back. And the main download was $8 and I've spent 11 hours with that, and I'd like to go back and beat the challenge dungeon more times to get more rare items and finish grinding my last two characters to fifty(they're currently 46). Maybe it's not worth it if you're not a big fan of RPGs, but not only am I a fan of RPG's I'm a fan of CLASSIC RPGs. As for the Mega Man DLC, it's worth it for the most part, but I have trouble paying for a higher difficulty. . .but then again I SUCK at Mega Man, so I'm sure if you're great at it it's not as big ofa deal
