Ninja Gaiden - Star of David imagery removed. Also, the boss music in stage 2 and 5 have been removed due to a likeness to Black Sabbath's "Iron Man"
Is the NES version very different compared to the Arcade version ? If not does anyone know if the Star of David imagery is still there ? Is the boss music still included in the NES version ? Mostly asking because i really like Black Sabbath.

If they only would fix all the games with translating errors and add back in the content that was taken out due to the NOA censorship they use to do back in the old days...
Players would complain that the translation errors are part of the nostalgia.
And i'm one of those that don't like these changes. Except censorship that is. You can change the platform its on, the controllers i have to play it with, give it online modes, wireless multiplayer, saves instead of passwords and so on. But please don't change flashing screens, in game characters, music backgrounds and the likes of it. I'd like all that to be in its original form. And i don't care about epileptics.
At least it would be nice if they just told you that there are changes before you download it. Then people can't complain afterwards. Just imagine if you downloaded Zero Wing and wouldn't see All your base are belong to us in there. That's part of what made the game special to players. I like this and the Gannon error because it makes these games seem less perfect and therefore more charming. It's nothing that breaks the game or is important to in game progress. So just keep it there.
NES Ninja Gaiden and arcade Ninja Gaiden are completely different games. The NES game is a platformer while the arcade game is a beat-em-up (like Final Fight, Streets of Rage, etc.)
As to flashing screens, they have to change them for liability reasons. You haven't heard one episode of the Pokemon anime gave hundreds of Japanese kids seizures? Even though they didn't make the anime personally, people blamed Nintendo because they own the Pokemon copyrights. Nintendo's not taking any more chances.
Oh, it is? I have to consider getting the arcade game on VC now, but there's a PHP error when I try to read the review.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Speaking of Tecmo games, I've heard Tecmo Bowl was considerably different on arcade. I know Rygar was. It sounds like the NES version was more popular, but the biggest complaint was the lack of a save/password feature. And it's too bad it will probably never come out on VC. Tecmo decided to change the music from the Famicom to the NES version, and what did they decide to replace the first scene with? Superman plagiarism. Not sure if the Famicom music avoided copyright infringement as I haven't played the game much.
Super Mario Bros. 3: Screen no longer flashes when getting the "?" sphere after beating a mini-boss. Life Force: Fixed typo on title screen which said "Licensed by Nintend of America" Contra 3: Screen flashes dark grey instead of bright white during massive explosion when leaving the crater after defeating the final boss.
I'm guessing they had all titles go through epilepsy testing.
Again, I hear the VC has been programmed to auto-detect epilepsy. (by checking how long it's been since each color in the system's palette has been changed, and leaving it alone if it's been shorter than whatever the acceptable rate is)
Possibly not the kind of thing this thread was going for, but I noticed the VC Operation Guide for Breath of Fire II bothered to give a detailed explanation of the Dragon's Tear, something the original manual didn't even bother mentioning (well, the US manual anyways. I'd imagine the UK was likely a reprint, and I own a SFC copy with everything except the manual. ) So, back in the day, I was like, "woah, what's up with that trippy flashing light in the text box?"
Most of the religious terms in Breath of Fire II were removed, namely the term blaspheme.

I would have liked some licensed games to have been the license completely removed and released on WiiWare. Keep the gameplay and the graphics the same but replace every licensed character, name and music to something else.
It was done for DSiWare where a Trolls game had the Trolls license removed and was released under the name Oscar. I'll have more of that please, just better games than Trolls.
Not sure what the deal is with the dropped rumble pack support.... Probaly due to the fact that the classic conroller has no rumble. It was dropped for the Gamecube's Special Collector's Edition of Zelda but was in the Master Quest version released as bonus for Wind Waker pre-orders. I know that Star Fox 64 just doesn't feel right without the rumble. Also the Cube pad is terrible for that game. Wish there was a better atternative to play that game with.
Also Majora's Mask has some weird audio issues that are both on the collector's edition and VC game.

Zelda Collector's Edition on Gamecube has rumble, at least in Ocarina and Majora, just like the originals.
OK well the past few days I have been on a Zelda kick due to the release of OoT for the 3DS. ANyway I have been playing A Link to the Past and I noticed that sometimes the sound effects go out. For example the music will stay at the same level but the sounds that Link makes like the grunts he makes when you do the spin attack or when he gets hit go really low and sound muffled. Dont know if anyone else has experienced that or not.
The resolution is much better in all N64 games, and games on the Snes have a slightly better color palette, though nes games are a mixed bag as some look better and some look worse than the original nes versions mainly due to "pixelation" issues
NES games are going to look off, because the NES used an analog color encoder, I believe. (as opposed to the digital color encoding other consoles used) And it, at least on NTSC CRT TVs, could significantly alter the apparent colors. Some games were originally designed with the "wrong" colors in mind, and others weren't.
A few music tracks were changed slightly in Final Fantasy III
